Lots of opportunities for Lamar Jackson’s offensive coordinator it seems! The Carolina Panthers contacted Todd Monken on Thursday, along with defensive coordinator Mike Macdonald for an interview. However, soon after that, the news broke that the Los Angeles Chargers are too following their path, as they recently showed interest in Monken.

The Chargers fired their coach Brandon Staley and GM Tom Telesco in December last year. This was done soon after the Raiders, in a Week 15 game, outscored LA 42-0 in the first half alone. And now, as the regular season has ended, the franchise is looking for options for a strong comeback in the 2024 season. For this, they approached Lamar Jackson’s offensive coordinator.

Todd Monken is in the spotlight!

The Baltimore Ravens and former Georgia offensive coordinator Todd Monken has been considered a potential head coach for multiple franchises. Recent news has come out that he is being approached by the LA Chargers. According to NFL insider, Adam Schefter, “Chargers interviewed Ravens’ offensive coordinator Todd Monken for their head coach job,” on Friday.

In February 2023, Monken chose to return to the NFL after guiding the Georgia Bulldogs to consecutive national titles. This season with the Ravens, he played a crucial role in the offense of the team, helping them achieve an average of 28.4 points per game, placing them fourth in the league this season.

Now as these pairs of teams have already interviewed Monken, the question arises: Which team will suit better for Monken?

Which team should Todd Monken pick?

Todd Monken has two options currently: the Chargers and the Panthers. And if he decides to switch his team for the future, LA will be a potentially more interesting task for him. The main reason is that they have a star quarterback in Justin Herbert, and many more resources, likely having more odds than the Panthers have.

Both teams could use the help of a strong offensive coordinator with the season they have had, focusing on putting forth a more dominant performance. However, it’s also important to consider that the Ravens would probably not want to lose their OC, especially when they could make a deep run in the playoffs.

Only the future can tell which side Todd Monken will choose for himself.
