Recently, FOX Sports shared a short video clip on their X handle. It featured the 5-time Super Bowl MVP player’s remorsefulness as he didn’t draft Mayfield as his fantasy QB. After witnessing the Week I performance of Baker against Commanders, Brady adored his splendid playing skills. “Baker, I wish I took you a fantasy, but a great start. Finding Mike, finding Chris, having that type of performance at home. That’s exactly what the team needs. Great job,” Tom Brady stated.

However, his confession came before he revealed his top three stars for the week. Micah Parsons, a Dallas Cowboys linebacker, has secured the first place on Brady’s list. “Micah Parsons absolutely dominated our defense last week. I got to see it live in person. I was very happy I wasn’t in the pocket last week. I was actually up in the booth. But watching him perform at an elite level week one, really picking up where he left off. He left the league impressions last year. He started off this game with nine. That’s why I awarded Micah the LFG Player of the Game in week one. What a great performance,” he remarked. But that’s not all!

While Jordan Mason and Baker Mayfield earned 2nd and 3rd place in the ex-Patriots QB Week 1 list, the 3-time NFL MVP Tom Brady also appreciated Jordan Mason’s fantastic performance by briefing his stats during Week 1.

My next star of the game is Jordan Mason. He filled in for CMC. He had 147 yards on 28 carries. Nobody was really expecting that. They weren’t sure if CMC was going to play. Jordan gets the start, goes out there, has a dominating performance against one of the best defenses in the league. That’s exactly what the Niners offense needed from him. What a night,” he further added.

And, for his third superstar of the week, 15-time Pro Bowler, Brady also gave a big shout-out to him. “And last, and certainly not least, down in Tampa Bay, Baker Mayfield threw four touchdowns. Two to my boy Mike Evans. Kevin’s won to Chris Godwin. What a performance,” he further added.

Despite his impressive performance last year,  Mayfield did not become a fantasy quarterback.

Reason: why Mayfield went undrafted as a fantasy QB

Undoubtedly, with his last season’s performance, Mayfield gave fantasy to the managers.  He amazingly finished seventh in passing TDS while ninth in passing YRDs.  Clearly,  his stats were enough for a top draft status, but it did not come as a surprise as his teammates  Mike Evans, and Chris Godwin even produced more receptions and receiving yards than him.

Evans secured more than 1,000 yards during his first year with Mayfield, while Godwin produced 83 receptions for 1,024 yards. Clearly, their number placed them in the top ranks among the league’s most successful players.

So, most ADP rankings have Mayfield rated in the low-20s among quarterbacks, indicating that he was unlikely to be picked in 10-team clubs but was a good QB2 in standard formats.

Thus, he did not become the fantasy QB. However,  he secured the 3rd rank in Brady’s great players list.  And now, he is looking forward to their performances in Week 2.
