The New York Giants had a rough start to the season with being whitewashed by the Dallas Cowboys. Their struggle continued with having just a 2-7 record till Week 9 along with their starting quarterback Daniel Jones getting injured. His backup Tyrod Taylor also suffered a rib injury a week earlier, leaving the franchise seemingly in shambles.

However, the unexpected hero, third-string rookie quarterback, Tommy DeVito, stepped in. And his performance in back-to-back games helped the Giants reach 5 wins currently. The NFL community and various sports analysts praise DeVito for his outstanding and unexpected work. The former NFL punter Pat McAfee and company too joined in the praise, drawing in a comparison of him to Joe Montana.

The winning streak of the Giants started since the Commanders game and continues till Week 14’s Green Bay Packers game. Tommy DeVito not only helped the team to make a back-to-back win but also elevated his touchdown scores to 5 TDs in the last three games. Pat McAfee and company during the Pat McAfee Show praised Devito playfully saying, “Tommy DeVito is doing for Italian Americans what Joe Montana did for Italian Americans. We got the new Brock Purdy is supposed to be the new Joe Montana and now we got the new Italian American doing his thing for football and Italians in America.

They continued praising the star and saying that what Devito has been doing is “awesome.” Montana is a retired Italian-American professional footballer, who is considered one of the greatest with eight Pro Bowl wins & Hall of Fame inductee to his name.

Similarly, DeVito has an Italian-American background, as he proudly celebrates his heritage by making a pinched finger gesture after scoring touchdowns and engaging in activities like ranking Italian food with NY influencers, thus the honest cue for comparison.

Furthermore, he has been rising well since his start in his rookie season and has slightly increased the chances of their playoff eligibility. Probably that’s why he was playfully compared to having similar roots and abilities to Montana by Pat McAfee and his group.

Tommy DeVito is the new ‘power-packer’ for the Giants!

Tommy DeVito went from being an unknown player on the Giants’ roster to a fan-favorite and hero. He started as a backup, but due to injuries to the starting QBs, he got the chance to play as a starter. During December 11th, Monday’s game against the Packers, he led the team to a last-minute victory, with a game-winning field goal, securing a 24-22 win over the Green team.

Despite the Giants’ overall season performance, DeVito’s record as a starter is impressive, and he has become a standout player with 5 touchdowns in the last three games, leading his team to consecutive wins. Furthermore, he has been seen potentially surpassing Jalen Hurts too shortly, and has also proved himself to be a potential for the team’s permanent starting quarterback.

DeVito is considered in the top 10 for stats like how often he completes his passes, how many yards he throws in a game, the number of touchdown passes, and the total passing yards he’s made (697). The Giants seem to have gained a massive bonus in the form of DeVito and would look to capitalize on the same in the remaining season.

I resonate with movies, exploring places, and not missing a single NFL game. If the NFL is my love, then I have to say, ‘my love’ found me! I understand what it takes to be an athlete and perform at such a high level since I too have tasted small-time success in sports. As an athlete, I have bagged the coveted district-level championship in track events.
