The Raiders found out the hard way that trolling Patrick Mahomes might not be the best strategy. Especially if you’re up against a Chiefs team chasing a three-peat. With a 7-0 statement start, they have sent a loud message to the NFL: “If you don’t wake up, it’s ours.” The Raiders, though, clearly missed the memo. After all the preseason hype, especially with that “Kermit the Frog” joke aimed at Mahomes, they came up short when it mattered. And let’s just say Travis Kelce wasn’t letting that slide.

On the New Heights podcast, Travis didn’t hold back. He called out the Raiders for their Kermit joke, saying, “All the Kermit stuff that happened and them saying they had the formula to stop Pat Mahomes… that was just the icing on the cake.” In other words, Vegas handed the Chiefs a big, frosted slice of motivation to go out there and show them they don’t have any “formula” for stopping Mahomes. Trav just told Sin City they’d sinned by poking fun at Mahomes!

So, what sparked this Chiefs-Raiders feud? Back in training camp, Trey Taylor found a fan’s Kermit doll dressed as Mahomes and decided to play around with it. Harmless, right? Not quite. That clip went viral. Not just that, fans of both teams shared it as the season opener approached. But here’s the kicker: Mahomes did see it.

When the media asked him about it during his weekly chat on 96.5 The Fan, he laughed and said, “It came across my timeline on Twitter after a long day at camp.” But he slipped in a subtle warning: “It’ll get handled when it gets handled.”

And they did handle it. When game day rolled around, the Chiefs put the SmackDown on the Raiders, winning 27-20 at Allegiant Stadium. Patrick and the gang showed Vegas that they’re not the team to mess with. I mean, that was the rookie mistake by Trey. It was naïve for the rest of the Raiders to fail to stop him. You come for Pat, pre-game that is, you’ve got to back it up with serious play. Or else it’s wrapped.

Travis Kelce was pretty clear on his podcast about it. But with all that chatter, do not let the Chiefs #87’s game go under the radar.

Travis Kelce is back!

Yup, finally! Sigh of relief. Travis Kelce looked like the typical Travis against the Raiders. Like the one we are used to watching. Man pulled in 10 catches for 90 yards. And the cherry on top? He finally snagged his first touchdown of the season, thanks to a five-yard bullet from Patrick Mahomes in the second quarter. Shock, the power of friendship strikes again!

Not only did Kelce shine, but he also made some history, surpassing Chiefs legend Tony Gonzalez as the all-time leader in catches against the Raiders. Ask any Las Vegas fan and they’ll tell you how Trav haunted them (“haunted,” did you catch the Taylor Swift connection there).

This Week 8 win? Hands down, Kelce’s best showing of the season so far. The guy was back in his groove, proving he’s still got that magic touch whenever he faces the Raiders. And hey, let’s not forget, it was right here at Allegiant Stadium last season that the Chiefs snagged their second straight Super Bowl against the Niners. So, we can say Kelce and the Chiefs are practically Vegas regulars now.

During the season of trick or treat, the Chiefs just keep getting all the treats. This time in the form of Trav, returning to form. And just in time, we’d say as up next they face the Bucs looking equally fierce. But if they do what they have been doing, KC might just extend their 7-0 record to 8-0.
