The NFL is a talent-acquisition business, and coach Kyle Shanahan and GM John Lynch would probably attest to it. Just before the trade deadline, they made an excellent move to acquire the league’s best defensive player, arguably. And guess what, the 24-year-old Chase Young is into the team of Trent Williams who once gave him the title that every football player dreams of.

Chase Young finds a new home!

Just a few hours before the NFL trade deadline of the season, the Commanders released the standout defensive end, Chase Young. And the San Francisco 49ers made no delay, as they acquired him. The Commanders earlier in 2020 gave offensive tackle Trent Williams to the 49ers, and now once again they traded his ex-teammate Young to his new team, the Niners.

Back in 2021, praising Young, the 35-year-old tackle once said, “He’s one of those talents that comes around every blue moon. He’s a Hall of Fame player just unfolding before our eyes.” Prior to this, he had also said how “he gonna be a totally different animal,” highlighting the caliber he believed Young to hold.

In his rookie year, 2020, Young won the NFL Defensive Rookie of the Year award. His 44 tackles with 7 1/2 sacks bolstered the Commanders. Furthermore, his impressive running on the field and tackling shows were also an apple to the eye for the Commanders’ fans. Probably, that’s why Williams highlighted his potential to become the future Hall of Famer.

However, now that both the players are on the same team, San Francisco will gain a stronger roster to their already impressive squad this season. The fact that San Francisco managed to select the defensive star in the third-round pick itself has been termed as one of “the best deals” by numerous analysts.

Additionally, the qualities Young brings to his new team with his talent, skills, and physical built directly aligns with that of San Francisco’s on-field vibe. However, there are other aspects as well that will help Young feel right at home with the Niners, especially considering the players the team hosts.

What benefits could Chase Young bring to the Niners?

The Commanders received a third-round pick in return for Chase Young. With this, the new house of Young, the Niners, will get his rushing and tackling speed. Moreover, Young could deliver fewer escape options to the opposing quarterbacks when their pocket collapses.

In addition to that, San Francisco coach Steve Wilks will have the benefit of defensive strategies that would keep the pass coverage close, making it harder for the rival teams to catch a pass. Furthermore, with his entry to the Niners, Young will also reunite with his ex-Buckeyes teammate, Nick Bosa.

With a great roster this season, it appears that probably the Niners are a win-now team. Meanwhile, the Commanders also released another standout defensive end Montez Sweat to the Chicago Bears.
