Russell Wilson is as inspiring as they come. Yes, he’s had a bad stint with the Denver Broncos, but his career as a veteran QB cannot be dismissed. Wilson gets a lot of hate for his antics, but his best intentions are always there. Now that he’s got a fresh start with the Pittsburgh Steelers, the Super Bowl-winning QB wants to turn things around.
The veteran has been active in getting acquainted with his teammates. Speaking on the Gabe Kuhn Show, the Steelers’ DT Breiden Fehoko, shed light on the new QB establishing rapport with the team and displaying a work ethic like none other. Perhaps he’s channeling his Mamba mentality to ensure the Steelers stay ahead of everyone else.

Russell Wilson is hard at work!
Fehoko was taken aback when he first saw Wilson in the Steelers locker room. He admitted that he asked the QB to follow him back on IG, but Russ, being busy, couldn’t get to the task. Per the Steelers DT, it didn’t matter whether anyone was tenured, or a new hire, Wilson would go up and talk to everybody.
“You know, whether you’re a guy that was new here, whether you’re a guy that’s been here. Every new person that’s come to that locker room, I’ve seen Russ go up to them and introduce him. ‘Hey, I’m Russell Wilson’,” said the tackle about the Super Bowl-winning QB. But there’s more to Russell Wilson than his locker room friendliness.
Apparently, Russ is the earliest to arrive and the last one to leave the building. Fehoko remembered an instance where Wilson arrived early at the Steelers facility to work out, even though he wasn’t scheduled till one and a half hours later.
“So we’re in the Waverman at “8 o’clock. And the offense doesn’t have their workouts at 9. But, you know, 7:30 a.m., Russell Wilson’s on the field, you know, doing quarterback position footwork by himself with the equipment managers, you know, right before us, right before they got to be there,” revealed the Steelers player.

That seems to be the standard for Wilson because, on his first day of work with the Denver Broncos, the QB woke up before the sun rose and was there at the Broncos facility before everyone else. Perhaps this is the sign of greatness that people want to see from Wilson. It also reminds us of his friendship with Kobe Bryant and how his Mamba mentality may be a driving factor for Wilson’s endeavors.
The Steelers QB channeling his inner Mamba
Russell Wilson was very close to Kobe Bryant, to the point where Natalia Bryant refers to the Wilsons as uncle and aunt. To wish Bryant’s daughter on the third year of her college journey, the Wilsons gifted her a bouquet with a note that said, “Nani, we hope you had the best first day of school. We are so proud of you as you enter your junior year. Rock it, girl. Go, Nani, Go! Love Uncle Russ and Aunt Ci.”

It is a well-known fact that Bryant used to wake up at 4 am every day and hit the gym before anyone else, getting a head start over everybody. Russell Wilson held Bryant in very high regard, and both respected each other for being at the top of their games.
Maybe Wilson’s Mamba mentality will reflect in the upcoming season as the Steelers are set to face the third-toughest schedule in the league this season.
