Contracts in the NFL are like a high-stakes game of chess – one wrong move can throw everything away for you. And as much as teams go through stress during the season, offseason struggles are no less intense. Franchises struggle and juggle between keeping their star players and managing the salary cap. On the other side, players try to secure their futures with fair contracts or deals. So, in today’s episode of NFL offseason shenanigans, we have the Miami Dolphins with us. Or more like, we have Jevon Holland with us.

With this season, Jevon Holland’s four-year contract with the team has come to an end. Now, the team has to decide whether to move on from him or sign him to an extension. There is another option as well – placing a franchise tag on Holland. The soon-to-be 25-year-old started his journey with the Dolphins in 2021 and served as captain for the next two seasons. Now, he is uncertain about whether his team will continue with him. “It’s just kind of like, it’s almost surreal, you know? Like stepping into another organization, or, you know, the same organization. We still don’t know. But if I do go to another place… it’s nerve-wracking like am I gonna choose the wrong one but I just gotta trust myself,” Jevon said.

The Dolphins, if they wanted, could have extended Jevon’s contract last season. But they didn’t. Now, the talk of the town is that the team won’t even place a franchise tag on him, which means they’re ready to let him hit free agency. But mind you, the Dolphins’ safety will be one of the most sought-after players if he enters free agency. Several franchises are on the hunt for ‘safety’, and there will be many willing to rain cash for Holland.

So, now that the Dolphins are looking to part ways with their four-year-long safety, what teams are looking forward to welcoming him to their squad?

The Miami Dolphins have moved on from Jevon Holland

That’s not us saying it, but Jevon himself. Transparency – seeing the Dolphins post things like the Valentine’s Day stuff or any kind of edit and things like that. You can see guys that may not be here next year or maybe somewhere else are just not in it,” the Dolphins’ defensive star said on a podcast recently. So, what’s this ‘Valentine’s Day stuff?’ Well, on February 14, the Dolphins posted a couple of pictures dedicated to a few players.

The post featured QB Tua Tagovailoa, CB Jalen Ramsey – who has Miami’s heart on lockdown, kicker Jason Sanders, who kick-starts their heart, and Aaron Brewer, who is at the center of the Dolphins’ heart. But the post made no mention of Jevon Holland, which left him hurt – as you could sense in his statement. The post did not feature Tyreek Hill either, but Reek would be less bothered by it.

I’m following them on Instagram, right? And I’m in none of this s— no more. I’m like, ok, they’ve kinda moved on,” added Jevon. Even if Miami parts ways with their defensive star, Holland has plenty of options. The Jaguars, who have been making moves lately with their new HC Liam Coen, could be interested in adding the Dolphins’ safety to their team. The Panthers and Bengals‘ names have also come up.

Jevon could find a home with any of these teams. What are the chances of him staying in Miami? Well… we can’t say that. But at the moment, it looks like the Dolphins do not have  Jevon Holland safe in their hearts!
