L’Jarius Sneed proved time and again that he’d been a pivotal part of the Kansas City Chiefs. The Kansas City team decided to trade him to the Tennessee Titans, where Sneed is set to make $76.4 million over four years, with $55 million guaranteed. The CB out of Louisiana Tech became a free agent this year itself and his absence has created an available position for a cornerback in the Chiefs.

The loss of this prolific player has led the Kansas City Chiefs to find a CB all over again. However, this time, they are looking at the upcoming NFL draft, which is just around the corner. The team pointed out some options they might consider in a new video on their YouTube channel.

Which of these CBs will fit the Kansas City Chiefs and Steve Spagnuolo’s bill?

Matt McCullen, senior reporter for the team had an interesting take on the CBs who will take part in the upcoming draft. Clemson’s Nate Wiggins, Alabama’s Ga’Quincy “Kool-Aid” McKinstry, and Missouri’s Ennis Rakestraw Jr. were some of the names that appeared in the conversation.

The host of the video pointed out how Wiggins had been doing wonders for Clemson University. At 6′ 2″, 185lbs the Tigers’ CB had an insane 4.28 second 40-yard time at the combine. Moreover, Wiggins had 22 solo tackles, 2 forced fumbles, 2 interceptions, and 6 passes defended in the 2023 season. Not to mention one touchdown. “He has a great motor, excellent recovery speed,” said the host.

Coming in next is the CB from Crimson Tide, Kool-Aid McKinstry. The host mentioned how McKinstry was an outside CB. Another thing to note about him is that he didn’t get any penalties in the last season. Also, McKinstry never missed a single game in his Alabama tenure. In 2023, he had 24 solo tackles and 7 defended passes.

But the conversation isn’t complete without Missouri’s own produce, Ennis Rakestraw Jr.

McCullen also pointed out Missouri CB’s inside and outside playing abilities and his ability to tackle in the run game, a quality admitted by Spagnuolo. Usually, the Chiefs tend to find their corners later in the draft, but they don’t have to wait for long if they want someone they really like.
