NFL is like a religion in America, people are crazy about it. And imagine being related to NFL players in any way, wouldn’t that be amazing? As kids, we often dream about being part of big leagues like the NFL. Some of us dream of playing, some about working in it, and some fantasize about dating someone from the NFL. It’s that rush of excitement, you know, that Oxytocin rush. Well, rugby player Ilona Maher had the same dreams as most of us, until a 2X Olympic hurdler gave her a wake-up call.

Recently, People Magazine interviewed Ilona Maher, and they threw in a fun, personal question, whether anyone’s been sliding into her DMs. You know, the kind of thing everyone’s curious about when it comes to public figures. The Olympic medalist jokingly said, It’s all very positive moms. They’re all like, I love what you have done for my daughter. I’m like, where is the NFL players? Where have they gone?” And to your surprise, two-time Olympic hurdler Fawn Dorr chimed in with something that wasn’t so pleasing to read.

She commented on the video posted by People Magazine on their Instagram handle, “I used to train with NFL players… respectfully, 99% are not dating material. There were a few good guys in there, but… not worth it.”

Uh-oh! What exactly does Fawn mean by this statement? Well, her comment is open to interpretation. In what sense did she say that? Maybe it’s about their crazy football schedules that leave no time for a personal life. Or it could be something else entirely. Well, only Fawn could tell that. Dating a high-profile celebrity always comes with its pros and cons. You’re constantly under the public microscope. Sometimes, you end up getting unnecessary hate.

Moving on from that, Maher started playing rugby back in high school. She went on to represent the U.S. national rugby team at both the 2020 and 2024 Olympics. This year, at the Paris Olympics, the 28-year-old took home a bronze medal in rugby sevens for her country. She is at present a member of the TV show Dancing with the Stars. Her appearances on the show quickly made her a household name.

Ilona Maher is eyeing another win

It looks like Ilona Maher is eyeing another trophy for her collection. After conquering rugby at the Olympics, she’s now got her eyes set on a trophy from a dancing competition. Well, can’t blame her, it’s in an athlete’s blood to keep winning. This time, she’s got Alan Bersten as her partner. From being a powerhouse on the rugby field to showing off her sassy dance moves on the dance floor, she is showing that she’s a total all-rounder.

And all the moms have got her back. She’s built quite the fan base. Maher has already checked off the semi-final list. And now all eyes will be on her in the finale, which is set to premiere in December. The 28-year-old is quite active on Instagram, often sharing sneak peeks of her rehearsals. Her posts show a fun and witty side of her. Hopefully, she will win this one too.

Maybe, after this, some NFL player will slide into her DMs. But as Fawn Dorr warned, she would want to be careful.
