Although it was another win for the Baltimore Ravens, the team’s star WR didn’t appear to be happy. Odell Beckham Jr. who returned to the field after 574 days with the Ravens in their season opener, was expected to deliver his best to the team, in the season. However, in Week 8, he received multiple reasons to be not happy with the team’s win.

The Ravens headed to the desert of Arizona on Sunday, October 29 at 4:25 PM ET. They defeated the struggling Arizona Cardinals from the NFC West division with 31-24. However, on the occasion of happiness, Beckham was demotivated and seen frustrated on the sidelines.

OBJ signed a one-year, $15 million deal with the Ravens this season, after missing the entire 2022 season due to a torn ACL injury in the Super Bowl LVI. In his six games played with the Purple Pain, Beckham Jr. has registered 14 pass catches for 162 yards with no touchdowns. However, in this matchup, he was washed off with 0 catches and 0 touchdowns. After the matchup, although his team won 31-24 with the Cardinals, OBJ was seen clearly frustrated with the situation on the sidelines. He was seen throwing his helmet, bumping on the ground, and shouting in anger.

The 30-year-old wide receiver hasn’t scored yet this season, and probably that’s why he felt frustrated in this matchup too. Furthermore, another reason for his frustration could be his recent hit to the midsection from Cardinals safety Budda Baker when OBJ was trying to reel in a high pass by QB Lamar Jackson in the third quarter. At that time, his return was questionable. However, he came back to finish the game after spending some time in the locker room, and the Ravens registered their sixth win in the season.

Despite that, it is obvious to note that once again, a wide receiver was underutilized in the game, similar to what’s happening with some players on other teams.

Along with Odell Beckham Jr., there are some other wide receivers too, who aren’t getting enough chances this season. Chase Claypool with the Chicago Bears, Davante Adams with the Las Vegas Raiders, and Antonio Brown with the Pittsburgh Steelers are in the same pool as OBJ. Claypool was a breakout player in 2020 at Pittsburgh. With the entry into the Bears, he promised that things with him would be positively different on offense. However, Claypool didn’t perform his best with the Bears, registering only 18 ball catches for 191 yards and one touchdown in 10 games.

Therefore, a couple of weeks ago, he was traded to the Miami Dolphins. Apart from him, Adams’ future with the Raiders is also under speculation, as he too is not getting enough passes this season. He only recorded 39 catches for 471 yards and three touchdowns. Tampa Bay Buccaneers WR, Brown, on the other hand, too experienced this incident with the Steelers. He wasn’t given enough chances to play his best, and ultimately kept himself absent from the multiple meetings and practices before being released.

All of these players during their struggling time were seen tossing off their helmets on the sidelines, just like OBJ did in Sunday’s game. These incidents, pop up a question that why receivers are not being trusted by some teams in the seasons. Are the teams fully dependent on their quarterback and running backs? What do you think?
