On Sunday, Young QB JJ McCarthy marked his return to the NFL by leading the middling Minnesota Vikings to a thrilling 27-24 win over the Detroit Lions. Playing at Ford Field, the Vikings trailed 0-7 before WR Justin Jefferson‘s stunning one-handed reception for a 10-yard touchdown leveled the scores in the first quarter. Still, it wasn’t just McCarthy’s touchdown that made headlines. It was Justin Jefferson’s clash with Lions cornerback Amik Robertson.

The Lions’ CB had a tough time trying to stop Jefferson from getting his first touchdown of the game and then struggled to maintain reliable coverage. But in the third quarter, Robertson took the limelight for trash-talking Justin Jefferson as DE Aidan Hutchinson sacked McCarthy. Minnesota fans were quick to call out the Lions’ cornerback before Robertson clapped back by posting about how he “strapped” Jefferson “on a crucial 3rd down stop.”

Both hailing from the state of Louisiana, the players battled each other at the High School level before changing paths in college. Now with the duo going head-to-head at the highest level, the Christmas Day clash promises to be a classic, especially with the fixture being pivotal for the NFC North. For now, though, while all eyes were on their heated exchange, concern has quickly shifted toward Jefferson himself. Everyone’s now asking if Justin Jefferson is injured after the Lions-Vikings clash.

Is Justin Jefferson injured?

Justin Jefferson had a busy night against the Detroit Lions. JJettas was targeted nine times by McCarthy, catching 6 passes for 47 yards and a touchdown. But in the third quarter, Jefferson seemed hurt after completing a catch and took himself out of the game. Later in the quarter, he appeared to be battling some kind of lower-body issue again..

But fortunately for Vikings fans, Justin Jefferson didn’t end up with a serious injury. Rather, the former LSU star was dealing with cramps, as confirmed by ESPN’s Kevin Seifert.

The Vikings’ insider reported, “It was in fact cramps, per Jefferson and Kevin O’Connell. Also, safety Theo Jackson was evaluated for a concussion but was then cleared, and returned to the game.”

With McCarthy’s strong return and Jefferson avoiding injury, Minnesota suddenly has momentum again If they can get a few wins, it could certainly shake up the fiercely competitive NFC North division.
