What are the charges against Jordan Addison?

Heavy reported via court documents that Addison “was charged with a first-degree misdemeanor for trespassing in an occupied structure or conveyance.”

Just 15 minutes before dawn on Monday, he was “trespassing” at the Seminole Hard Rock Hotel and Casino in Tampa. He was booked into custody and later released 11 hours later, at 2:40 p.m. ET on Monday. According to the Hillsborough County Sheriff’s Office, he posted a $500 cash bond.

While specific details about what led to the trespassing charge have not been fully released, the arrest adds to a growing list of legal troubles for the former first-round pick.

What is the Vikings’ stance on Jordan Addison’s arrest?

A day after the receiver’s release on bail, the Minnesota head coach was showered with questions about the situation. While Kevin O’Connell admitted being aware of the arrest, he refused to clear the team’s stance since it’s too early to release any detailed comment.

“I just learned about that very, very recently, so I don’t want to speculate on that in any way, shape or form,” O’Connell told the reporters. “I do think we’ve gotta get as many facts and find out exactly what happened. Speculating on it at this point would be incredibly premature for me.”

Jordan Addison’s history of legal trouble

Things become a bit more complicated for Addison because it’s the third time in four offseasons that the wideout has had an encounter with law enforcement. It’s creating a concerning pattern that the Vikings may not take lightly this time.

His first encounter happened in the Summer of his rookie year. Addison was cited for driving 140 mph in a 55 mph zone on a Minnesota freeway. Later, he pleaded guilty to a speeding charge to avoid a more serious reckless driving count.

A year later, in July 2024, he was arrested near Los Angeles International Airport after being found asleep at the wheel of a Rolls-Royce that was blocking a lane of traffic. He pleaded not guilty to the charge of “Driving Under the Influence of alcohol with a blood-alcohol concentration of 0.08% or greater.” He eventually reached a plea deal for a “wet reckless” charge.

However, the NFL didn’t let his second driving-related offense go easily. He was handed a suspension for the first three games of the 2025 season for violating the league’s Personal Conduct policy. This suspension also made the remaining guaranteed money of his $13.73 million, four-year rookie contract

Although his attorneys previously stated that the young receiver has been committed to learn from his mistakes, this latest incident in Tampa puts that progress into question.

What does this mean for Jordan Addison’s future?

The timing of this arrest is particularly bad for Addison. The Vikings are currently evaluating their roster, and the 23-year-old has entered the final year of his rookie contract. While the fifth-year option exists, it’s a big question mark whether the front office will execute it. If executed, he’ll remain in Minnesota through the 2027 season at a projected contract of over $17.5 million.

What’s tough is that Addison’s 2025 performance also saw a dip. He finished the season with a career-low 42 catches, 610 yards, and three touchdowns. Combined with his off-field activities, it wouldn’t be surprising if his name turns up as available in the 2027 offseason.
