In a recent post-game conference, Bill’s head coach Sean McDermott discussed matters related to the match. However, in the middle of the conversation, the interviewer asked about his intention behind Damar Hamlin’s fake punt attempt. While shedding light on the reason, the head coach said, “I just felt like we’re having a hard time stopping him, and they were up three at that time. I believe it wasn’t, um, wanted to be aggressive; you know you only get one chance, so I wanted to be aggressive. Obviously, it didn’t work. But now it’s my decision, and you live with it.”

With 12:57 to play in the fourth quarter,  McDermott chose to use safety Damar Hamlin for a fake punt on 4th and 5 at Buffalo’s 30-yard line. However, Hamlin gained two yards on the carry and was stopped short of the first down. It was the Chiefs’ defense that was hard on the Bills today. Moreover, the Bills relied more on a rushing attack today, which showed a brighter outcome in the first half.

Furthermore, Josh Allen’s 124 rushing yards and a pair of touchdowns contributed to the Bills’ lead in the first half. But in the last quarter, the team’s placekicker Tyler Bass missed a crucial 44-yard field goal, leading to the team’s loss. The Bills quarterback expressed displeasure with his remark, stating, “Sucks. Losing sucks.” He further added that losing anyone at home seemed disheartening.

Nevertheless, McDermott’s assertiveness is justified, given the coaching intensity this season.

The next thing I know, I am screaming and shouting and cheering for the players on the field.
