Tyreek Hill, the NFL’s very own Cheetah, can’t resist a good jab—even if it’s at his idols! The NFL on ESPN shared a poster sparking a hilarious Twitter debate after revealing Robert Griffin III’s dream 5v5 flag football team. It featured himself, Usain Bolt, Calvin Johnson, Hill, and the 25-year-old young gun Justin Jefferson

Dolphins’ WR Hill retweeted the post with a side-splitting caption: “Father Time we all washed except for JJettas.” Per the veteran wideout, it’s pretty funny how everyone but Jefferson is in their 30s, considered past their prime.

Now, while Tyreek Hill’s playful jab is pure entertainment, it’s hard to ignore the timing. This lighthearted exchange comes as he’s in the midst of contract extension talks with the Dolphins. Having signed a massive four-year, $120M extension in 2022 (becoming the highest-paid WR at $30M per year then), Hill maintained his elite status.

But will the Dolphins extend the wideout’s contract deal? While the 30-year-old WR feels he’s ‘washed,’ he’s far from it. Given his confidence, he trusts The Phins will recognize his value and get a new deal done.

Tyreek Hill wants market value recognized

The wide receiver market this offseason has been a gold rush, with Justin Jefferson setting a new standard with his massive contract of four-year, $140 million contract extension that includes $110 million guaranteed. While Miami’s star wideout Tyreek Hill is thrilled for his peers cashing in, his own contract situation is simmering in the background.

“Being part of the ‘old wave’ at $30 million was great,” he said to ESPN, referencing his previous contract. However, with Jefferson surpassing that mark, Hill’s eyes are set on a bigger reward. But the landscape has changed. This offseason alone, A.J. Brown with $32 million and Amon-Ra St. Brown with $30.002 million per year have all eclipsed Hill’s annual average salary ($30M). Currently, the 30-year-old sits at number four in the highest-paid WR category.

With CeeDee Lamb and Ja’Marr Chase also awaiting new deals, Hill can afford to be patient. This is his last year with guaranteed money, as the wideout’s owed $19.6M in base salary this year, $21.8M in 2025, and $43.9M in 2026. But the Dolphins have a strong incentive to get a new deal done before 2026, when Hill’s massive cap hit of $34.2M in 2025 and $56.3M in 2026 kicks in.

Tyreek Hill may not be prioritizing a new contract right now, but his comments leave little doubt. He’s aware of his value, and the Dolphins would be wise to recognize it. “The contract will come,” Hill said confidently. And, with the way he’s playing right now, that contract will probably reset the market once again!
