Everyone loves to see where their NFL team stands in the power rankings each week (unless you’re a Jets fan, then maybe you don’t). But if there’s one thing fans like to see just as much, it’s where their team’s starting quarterbacks rank among their peers.
Watch What’s Trending Now!
Through the first five weeks of the season, there has been a lot of really good quarterback play. Some of it has come from the usual suspects, such as Matthew Stafford, Josh Allen, and Patrick Mahomes, but we’ve also seen guys like Daniel Jones and Mac Jones ball out.
Today, I’m going to do my best to rank all 32 of the starting quarterbacks in the NFL.

Note: These power rankings are based on how each QB has played this season. I tried to take bias from previous seasons out as much as possible.

32. Cooper Rush, Baltimore Ravens
I don’t think I need to say a whole lot here. Cooper Rush has thrown for 231 yards and three interceptions with no touchdowns since taking over in Baltimore. Right now, he’s the worst QB in the league.
Stats: 231 yards, 3 INT
Key Starters Injured: Ronnie Staley, Lamar Jackson, Patrick Ricard
31. Dillon Gabriel, Cleveland Browns
I think Dillon Gabriel has what it takes to be a decent quarterback in this league, but he’s played one game, and the offense was super mundane. Need to see more before he jumps any higher.
Stats: 209 yards, 3 TD
Key Starters Injured: Cedric Tillman, Dawand Jones
30. Geno Smith, Las Vegas Raiders

Geno Smith’s Raiders career has gotten off to an awful start. He’s thrown nine interceptions to six touchdowns, and the offense has just looked horrible with him under center.
Stats: 1,176 yards, 6 TD, 9 INT
Key Starters Injured: Brock Bowers, Michael Mayer
29. Joe Flacco, Cincinnati Bengals
Joe Flacco has been nothing even close to good this season, but I’m bumping him up because I think he’ll succeed with the Cincinnati Bengals. He has too many weapons there to keep playing as badly as he has this year.
Stats: 815 yards, 2 TD, 6 INT
Key Starters Injured: Joe Burrow, Lucas Patrick
28. Cam Ward, Tennessee Titans
Cam Ward’s struggles aren’t all his fault. The Tennessee Titans’ offensive line is horrible, their receivers aren’t very good, and the play calling has been poor at best. I think he has the talent to be much higher on this list, but for now, he’s No. 28.
Stats: 879 yards, 2 TD, 3 INT
Key Starters Injured: JC Latham
27. Jaxson Dart, New York Giants
Jaxson Dart has looked good at times in his two starts, but turning the ball over three times against a struggling New Orleans Saints defense is just not a good look. I think he’ll improve, but I just haven’t seen enough good to put him any higher.
Stats: 313 yards, 109 rushing yards, 4 TD (total), 2 INT
Key Starters Injured: Tyrone Tracy (might play week 6), Darius Slayton, Malik Nabers
26. Michael Penix, Atlanta Falcons
While we’re on the topic of disappointing first-round quarterbacks, Michael Penix Jr. has struggled this year. In four games, he’s thrown for 918 yards, three touchdowns, and three interceptions, and was shut out by the Panthers. I’ll give him some more time, but it’s not looking good for the second-year man out of Washington.
Stats: 918 yards, 3 TD, 3 INT
Key Starters Injured: N/A
25. Bryce Young, Carolina Panthers
I’ve always been a Bryce Young truther (and that’s saying something as an LSU alum). I just think he’s in a horrible spot, but he showed some performance flashes during the Carolina Panthers’ comeback victory last weekend, so he overtakes a couple of guys on this list.
Stats: 951 yards, 54 rushing yards, 8 TD (total), 4 INT
Key Starters Injured: Jalen Coker, Jonathan Brooks
24. Kyler Murray, Arizona Cardinals
Kyler Murray really hasn’t been that bad this year, but he hasn’t been all that inspiring either. Plus, blowing an 18-point lead to the Titans (which I know isn’t only his fault) is a really, really bad look. Feels like his time in Arizona is coming to a close sooner rather than later.
Stats: 962 yards, 173 rushing yards, 7 TD (total), 3 INT
Key Starters Injured: James Conner, Trey Benson
23. Spencer Rattler, New Orleans Saints
I tried to take my Saints bias out of this, but I honestly believe Spencer Rattler has earned this ranking. If you think he’s the problem in New Orleans, you either haven’t been watching or don’t know ball. He’s playing good football and isn’t giving it away. He’s getting better and better each week, so don’t be surprised if he keeps climbing this list.

Stats: 990 yards, 123 rushing yards, 6 TD, INT 1
Key Starters Injured: Bub Means
22. Tua Tagovailoa, Miami Dolphins
While the Miami Dolphins have struggled this season, Tua Tagovailoa hasn’t been their biggest issue. He’s not playing bad football; he’s just not good enough to elevate that team, which is already down Tyreek Hill.
Stats: 1,008 yards, 10 TD, 4 INT
Key Starters Injured: Liam Eichenberg, Tyreek Hill
21. Aaron Rodgers, Pittsburgh Steelers
Ever since his four-touchdown performance to open the season, Aaron Rodgers has been a bit underwhelming. He’s doing what he needs to do to win games in September, but eventually, he’s going to need to step it up if they want to make a playoff run.
Stats: 786 yards, 8 TD, 3 INT
Key Starters Injured: Calvin Austin Jr., Jalen Ramsey
20. Justin Fields
I know a lot of Justin Fields’ numbers have come in the fourth quarter when the New York Jets are down big, but you can’t ignore the stats. He’s thrown for 754 yards and four touchdowns with no interceptions while rushing for 204 and three more scores. And he’s done that without turning the ball over.
Stats: 754 yards, 204 rushing yards, 7 TD
Key Starters Injured: Braelon Allen, Alijah Vera-Tucker
19. Carson Wentz, Minnesota Vikings
This is where things started to get tricky. I thought Carson Wentz would end up higher on this list than 19, but I just couldn’t justify putting him higher. He’s playing good football, but I don’t believe he’s capable of elevating the offense and carrying them if he needs to, and everyone else from here on out can.
Stats: 759 yards, 5 TD, 2 INT
Key Starters Injured: JJ McCarthy, Aaron Jones, Rondale Moore
18. CJ Stroud, Houston Texans
If this were based on the last two games alone, CJ Stroud would be much higher. But it’s based on the entire year, and his struggles in the first three games tank his ranking. Plus, those two good games came against two of the arguably worst defenses in football.
Stats: 1,076 yards, 8 TD, 3 INT
Key Starters Injured: Joe Mixon, Tank Dell
17. Jalen Hurts, Philadelphia Eagles
Some of you are going to say, “How is Jalen Hurts so low?” but those of you who really watch football will understand. He has two superstar wide receivers and one of the best offensive lines in football, and still can’t get the ball to them. If he weren’t on the Eagles in that system, he’d struggle to be a starter.
Stats: 889 yards, 182 rushing yards, 11 TD
Key Starters Injured: Saquon Barkley, Johnny Wilson
16. Trevor Lawrence, Jacksonville Jaguars
Trevor Lawrence started the season slow, but we’re about to see him take off. He’s getting comfortable in Liam Coen’s system, and Monday night was just a teaser of things to come.

Stats: 1,066 yards, 86 rushing yards, 8 TD, 5 INT
Key Starters Injured: Brenton Strange
15. Jayden Daniels, Washington Commanders
Jayden Daniels hasn’t been bad this season, but he hasn’t been as special as he was as a rookie. Plus, he’s missed a couple of games, but he looked really good on Sunday. Once he’s back to 100 percent, I expect him to make his way back into the top 10.
Stats: 664 yards, 124 rushing yards, 4 TD
Key Starters Injured: Terry McLaurin, Sam Cosmi, Austin Ekeler
14. Bo Nix, Denver Broncos
Much like Lawrence, I think Bo Nix is about to get hot. He started off slow, but went 13-for-16 for 160+ yards and a touchdown in the second half to help knock off the undefeated Eagles. I think we’ll look back at this win as a turning point in his season.
Stats: 1,103 yards, 100 rushing yards, 9 TD, 4 INT
Key Starters Injured: N/A
13. Caleb Williams, Chicago Bears
After a dysfunctional rookie season, Caleb Williams is excelling with Ben Johnson as his new head coach. He’s thrown for 927 yards, eight touchdowns, and two picks in just four games this year, and as he continues to learn the system, I suspect he’ll keep getting better.
Stats: 927 yards, 110 rushing yards, 9 TD, 2 INT
Key Starters Injured: Colston Loveland
12. Justin Herbert, Los Angeles Chargers
Justin Herbert started the season off hot, but has cooled down a little bit. His struggles these last two weeks have largely been due to injuries to his supporting cast, and it doesn’t appear that they will go away anytime soon. For his sake, I hope they figure it out, but we’ll have to see what happens.
Stats: 1,229 yards, 153 rushing yards, 8 TD, 4 INT
Key Starters Injured: Joe Alt, Omarion Hampton, Najee Harris
11. Drake Maye, New England Patriots
Drake Maye makes a big jump this week after his performance against the Bills. He didn’t throw a touchdown, but he was never phased and commanded the offense all night long. He’s been very impressive in year two, and I’m excited to see how he grows.
Stats: 1,261 yards, 110 rushing yards, 9 TD, 2 INT
Key Starters Injured: Antonio Gibson
10. Daniel Jones, Indianapolis Colts
It’s weird putting Daniel Jones inside the top 10 in a quarterback power rankings, but here he is. He’s actually probably been playing better than 10th place, but again, I don’t know if he can elevate the offense enough. He’s playing great within the system Shane Steichen created, but I’m a bit wary that once teams get more tape on him in the Indianapolis Colts‘ offense, he might fall off.

Stats: 1,290 yards, 56 rushing yards, 9 TD, 2 INT
Key Starters Injured: Alec Pierce
9. Sam Darnold, Seattle Seahawks
Everyone thought Sam Darnold’s 2024 season was a fluke, but he’s proving it wasn’t. He’s played great football through five weeks, and even though he made a costly mistake, which cost them the game against the Tampa Bay Buccaneers, he still finds himself in the top 10.
Stats: 1,246 yards, 9 TD, 3 INT
Key Starters Injured: N/A
8. Jordan Love, Green Bay Packers
Jordan Love is playing the best football of his career through the first five weeks of the season and is on pace to be an MVP candidate by the end of the year. He’s done nothing to prove he’s not a top-five quarterback, but there has just been some great quarterback play this season, so for now, he sits at No. 8.
Stats: 1,000 yards, 8 TD, 1 INT
Key Starters Injured: Christian Watson, Jayden Reed
7. Mac Jones, San Francisco 49ers
What a surprise Mac Jones has been. He took over when Brock Purdy got hurt and has been lights out, throwing for 905 yards, six touchdowns, and one interception in three games. He’s playing like a top-three quarterback, but he’s sat for two games, so I’m giving the nod to a few others over him.
Stats: 905 yards, 6 TD, 1 INT
Key Starters Injured: Ricky Pearsall, Brock Purdy, Jauan Jennings, George Kittle
6. Patrick Mahomes, Kansas City Chiefs
I know it’s popular to not like Patrick Mahomes right now, but he’s still among the best of the best, and has been playing well without some of his best receivers. Xavier Worthy missed the first three games, and Rashee Rice is out for the first six, and yet he’s still thrown for 1,200+ yards and eight touchdowns.
Stats: 1,257 yards, 190 rushing yards, 11 TD, 2 INT
Key Starters Out: Rashee Rice
5. Jared Goff, Detroit Lions
Jared Goff has flown under the radar a bit (as he always seems to do), but he’s playing fantastic football. He’s thrown for nearly 1,200 yards and has a 12-2 TD:INT ratio. Many thought he’d fall off without Ben Johnson, but he picked up right where he left off.
Stats: 1,187 yards, 12 TD, 2 INT
Key Starters Injured: Kalif Raymond
4. Josh Allen, Buffalo Bills
Of the “big three” quarterbacks, Josh Allen is playing the best. He’s thrown for over 1,200 yards and nine touchdowns while adding another 200+ and three scores on the ground. He may not be on the same MVP pace he was last year, but he’s still one of the best in the league this year.
Stats: 1,217 yards, 212 rushing yards, 12 TD, 2 INT
Key Starters Injured: Matt Milano, Dorian Strong, Maxwell Hairston
3. Dak Prescott, Dallas Cowboys
Dak Prescott continues to be one of the best regular-season quarterbacks in the NFL. Year after year, he delivers in the regular season, but once it hits January, he seems to struggle. That doesn’t matter for this story, though. He’s balling out and is playing like a top-three QB in the NFL through five weeks.

Stats: 1,356 yards, 11 TD (total), 3 INT
Key Starters Injured: CeeDee Lamb, KaVonte Turpin, Tyler Booker
2. Matthew Stafford, Los Angeles Rams
Last week, Matthew Stafford would’ve been my No. 1, but even after an incredible performance against the San Francisco 49ers, he falls to No. 2. Stafford has always been one of the most underrated quarterbacks in the NFL, but this year, he’s a true MVP candidate.
Stats: 1,503 yards, 11 TD, 2 INT

1. Baker Mayfield, Tampa Bay Buccaneers
Our top spot goes to Baker Mayfield, who leapfrogs Stafford for the top spot this week. Mayfield put the Buccaneers on his back this weekend, throwing for 379 yards and two scores in their 38-35 win over the Seattle Seahawks. With no run game to speak of, Mayfield did everything for the Buccaneers, and that’s why he’s sitting at No. 1.
