SIGH! That was the collective gasp of the Steel City when the heart of their D-line, Cam Heyward went down against the Chiefs. You know that sinking feeling when your best player limps off? Yeah, it was one of those moments.

He went down clutching his knee during the clash. Heyward was visibly in pain, leaving everyone wondering if the Steelers’ postseason run just took a hit harder than a linebacker on a blitz.

Heyward’s injury happened during a rough stretch for Pittsburgh, and for a moment, it felt like the air was sucked out of the room. Fortunately, he made his way back onto the field after an injury timeout. Crisis averted… for now (only until KC came out victorious).

Now, with week 18 against Joe Burrow and the Bengals looming, Heyward’s health is top of mind. Those 11 days of rest can’t come soon enough, especially for a guy like Heyward, who at 35, is having a Defensive Player of the Year-caliber season—eight sacks, 19 QB hits, and 11 tackles for loss. Impressive, right?

Still, the Steelers weren’t so lucky on Christmas Day. They couldn’t contain the Chiefs’ offense, falling 29-10.

Cam Heyward rips into the Steelers for falling short, yet again!

Cam Heyward doesn’t sugarcoat things. After the Steelers’ third straight loss—a Christmas Day clobbering by the Chiefs—he let it all out: “The last three weeks, we’ve played like s–t. Simple as that.” Yikes. And honestly? He’s not wrong. Facing a brutal December stretch against playoff-bound juggernauts like the Eagles, Ravens, and Chiefs, Pittsburgh stumbled through every game. A 10-3 AFC North lead has quickly morphed into a 10-6 wildcard scramble.

Heyward’s frustration is palpable, and he’s not pointing fingers at anyone but the team. “Every player’s got to own that in here. It’s a multitude of things—turnovers, getting off the field, scoring touchdowns. We take it to the [practice] field, but it means nothing if we can’t execute on game day.” That’s veteran leadership speaking, folks. But also a stark reality check for a squad that looked like contenders just weeks ago.

Russell Wilson’s midseason magic has faded fast, with just 550 passing yards, three TDs, and four turnovers in this three-game skid. Sure, the schedule was brutal, but excuses don’t win championships. If the Steelers want to salvage their season, Heyward’s words need to spark action—because “almost” doesn’t cut it in December football.
