Defensive Coordinator Jesse Minter was acting as interim coach. After giving everyone a scare, Harbaugh did make a comeback to the field. That was a colossal relief to the fans, staff, and the players. And well, Harbaugh was exceptional after his comeback.

After the game, the coach revealed the reason for his brief exit in the press conference. The HC felt an atrial flutter, which causes irregular heartbeat, and he felt uncomfortable, thus requiring medical attention.

After resting in the bye week, it was their 5th game of the season. The Chargers sat at a 2-2 win-loss record. For the week 6 game, the team raced ahead of the Broncos with a score of 10-0. With renewed energy, the coach led them—dictating plays as usual—completely unfazed by the medical issue he faced.

However, this wasn’t the first time everyone got scared for his health.

Does Jim Harbaugh still have an irregular heartbeat?

12 years ago, in November 2012, Harbaugh suddenly experienced pain in his chest. He was the head coach of the San Francisco 49ers at the time. When the coach sought medical attention for the chest pain, doctors told him he had an irregular heartbeat. Harbaugh then underwent a minor procedure to treat the condition.

This procedure, called cardioversion, includes giving the heart an eclectic shock to get it back into rhythm. After the surgery, Jim Harbaugh joined the team within a few days and didn’t show any weakness during the training sessions. To sum it up, he suffers from a condition called atrial flutter in which the upper chambers of the heart beat faster than the lower ones. And this same condition affected him in today’s game.

Though he has shown no major health concerns all these years, such sudden flare-ups do scare everyone. Well, with his medical condition sorted out for now, the team will hope he remains in good health. After all, the Bolt Gang wouldn’t want their coach to leave the team at this stage in the season.
