Steelers OLB TJ Watt went to tackle the Ravens LB Derrick Henry but fell on his arm. The pain reflected on his face. Immediately, the Steelers’ medical team rushed into action. At the 9:52 mark in the 3rd quarter, the Steeler Nation was under extreme duress, watching him while his elbow was getting wrapped. It’s my story. Since I’ve been here, I haven’t won a playoff game. I’ve been saying it this whole season. You guys know how important this is to me,” said TJ Watt before the game. Against the Ravens, he failed to mount the defense on them as they cruised to 21-0 at the end of halftime. Though Russell Wilson took them to 14-28 at the end of the 3rd quarter, the team lost.

The linebacker looked nothing like the regular season. He started all 17 games for the Steelers and recorded 11.5 sacks, and 6 forced fumbles with 61 tackles (40 solo). But on Saturday, when it mattered the most, he went into a shell. The defense crumbled and lost the game 14-28. TJ Watt will have to wait another year for a playoff win.

Russell Wilson gave a little hope to the fans with 2 touchdowns in the 3rd quarter. But failed to take them to a victory. The outcome seemed to be on the cards. Their 4-game losing streak in the regular season had a huge effect. But was there a solution?

TJ Watt & teammates failed to follow Russell Wilson’s advise

After losing the season ender against the Bengals, Mr. Unlimited demanded amnesia from his teammates. He hoped they would move on and get back on the winning track. Alas! their planning failed.

While the blame for the defeat lies on the Steelers O-line, their defense was also lackluster. Lamar Jackson was sacked only once, but the Steelers QB got sacked 4 times in the game. They failed to stop the home team’s rushes.

While the Steelers had 11 rushes for 29 rushing yards, the Ravens had almost 10 times rushing yards with 50 rushes for 299 yards and 2 touchdowns. Their confidence was low. The visitors failed to hold on to the ball, with only 20 minutes and 27 seconds of possession. The Ravens had all the time they needed by keeping the ball for 39 minutes and 33 seconds.

With such a poor performance, they could expect nothing else than a loss. TJ Watt and his defense were no match for the mounting offense of the Ravens. After the halftime, the game slowed down. But it was too late by then.
