Spencer Danielson Signs a New Deal With Boise State Through 2029

This decision is taken after leading the Broncos to their first-ever college football appearance. After the team fired Andy Avalos in 2023-2024, Danielson was promoted to interim head. And the Broncos closed the year by winning the Mountain West Championship, which proved that Danielson is not just a temporary spark. Rather, he’s a long-term fire. 

Then he got promoted to full-time head coach of the team, after which the team won their second straight Mountain West title and earned the No. 3 seed in the College Football Playoffs format during the 2024-2025 season. Even Jeramiah Dickey, the athletic director of the team, has stated that Danielson is certainly essential for the team’s future. “Spencer has proven to be the right leader at the right time for Boise State football and our university as a whole,” said Dickey.

Coach Spencer Danielson’s New Salary and Raise

For starters, his deal will commence at $2 million per year this season, and over the next five years, it will increase by $100,000. And will end nearly at $11 million. He will be the second-highest-paid coach after UNLV’s Dan Mullen in the Mountain West. It would be a significant jump from the original contract of Danielson, which was a total of $6.5 million over five years. 

Additionally, it is worth noting that if Danielson were to terminate the contract early, he would be required to pay $3.5 million to the university if he decides to leave on or before 28th Feb, 2026. This penalty sharply declines by $500,000 each year, with the final year of his contract calling for an early termination fee of $1 million.
