But the record for highest attendance ever recorded at the NFL Draft is credited to Nashville in 2019, which saw an astronomical 600,000 fans attend the draft over 3 days. Detroit is some way off of smashing Nashville’s attendance record, but numbers are optimistic about them breaking the record by the end of the event. Additionally, thе anticipation surrounding thе Dеtroit draft suggests a substantial еconomic boost from thе influx of fans.

Economic impact: Comparing previous NFL Draft host citiеs

Past Draft events held in cities like Kansas City (2023) and Nashville (2019) resulted in significant financial gains. For instance, Kansas City earned approximately $164.3 million from its previous draft, with $108.8 million attributed to direct spending and $55.5 million to induced/indirect impacts.

The breakdown of direct spending reveals that accommodations accounted for 60%, followed by food and beverages at 18%, business services at 8%, transportation at 6%, and retail and recreation at approximately 4%. Indirect impacts such as increased employment in local hotels and opportunities for over 1,200 locals to work at the event further stimulated the economy.

Similarly, the 2019 NFL Draft in Nashville generated a staggering $223.9 million, with $132.8 million attributed to direct spending alone. As Detroit awaits its post-draft revenue report, all eyes are on the potential economic windfall that the 2024 draft may bring to the city.

As the draft draws nearer, the audience’s attendance is expected to continue to increase, further solidifying the significance of Detroit’s NFL Draft.
