Mark met Aimee in college, and she was an exceptional basketball player at the same school. She earned Mecklenburg County girls’ player of the Year honors. She also played basketball with her sons in their backyard and often would win against them with three pointers. 

Mark, who is five years older than Aimee, met her when he returned to UNC as an assistant coach for the Powder Puff game. At the time, Aimee was working in the football recruiting office, and when she first saw him, she thought he was “really cute” but probably “married with children.”

Mark was the one who asked her to dinner at Golden Corral, and from there, their relationship took off. They knew from the start that they wanted to have a big family together, Aimee told The News & Observer. “[I knew he] would have a lot of fun coaching his kids one day,” she said as per People.
