But before marrying Hunt, Amy had been in a good relationship with her second husband, Tim Strunk, a cattle breeder. Unfortunately, she lost Tim in a car accident in 1997, which was likely a very difficult time in her life.

Allegedly, after an extended period of emotional turmoil following her brother’s suicide, she parted ways with her first husband in 1990. Her personal setbacks have not hindered her ability to continue building her father’s legacy in the NFL.

When did Amy Strunk buy the Titans?

Reportedly, after her dad, Bud Adams’ death in 2013, Amy Strunk inherited a stake in the Titans. Bud Adams, who founded the team as the Houston Oilers, left his family in deep grief after his passing. His inheritance was placed in a trust and divided among family members.

Amy and her sister Susie received a one-third share of the Titans and a third of KSA Industries. The remaining stakes were divided into three 11% shares among Bud’s wife and his late son, Kenneth Adams III. Initially, the family designated her sister, Susie Adams Smith, as the controlling owner of the Titans. At the time, Susie’s husband, Tommy Smith, served as the team president.

However, in 2015, the Adams family restructured the ownership, positioning Amy as the majority owner. They also brought back Steve Underwood, the former Titans CEO, from retirement to serve as team president, while pushing the Smiths aside. Despite this, Susie continues to maintain her one-third ownership of the franchise.

Since becoming the controlling owner, Amy has become one of the most influential female owners in the league. Under her leadership, the Titans have enjoyed notable success, including six consecutive winning seasons and back-to-back division titles in 2020 and 2021.

In 2019, the Titans advanced to the AFC Championship Game, and in 2000, the team competed in Super Bowl XXXIV. However, the Titans are still chasing their first Super Bowl trophy. This season, with a 1-4 record, the team faces challenges, but Amy remains committed to her vision of improving the Titans’ current standing.
