How often do we see high school sweetheart success stories prevail through the test of time? Well, Shaquil Barrett and his wife Jordanna have been married since 2012 and they didn’t even exchange vows until 2016. Isn’t that crazy? The 2x Super Bowl Champion decided to hang up his cleats recently and is looking forward to peaceful days and not taking hits anymore.

Born on 24 Nov 1992, Jordanna Barrett is a mom to not only her 4 kids Aaliyah, Braylon, Arrayah, and Shaquil Barrett Jr., but also to children who don’t have a family or parents to go back to. This noble deed is possible through her Fifty50 Foundation which “seeks to fill children’s hearts back full, one child at a time. We are dedicated to serving children in the foster care system.”

More often than not, children who don’t have parents are devoid of love, or at least the feeling of being loved and hence, Jordanna has taken it upon herself to bridge that gap. Despite such altruistic deeds, she still finds time for her family. Her Instagram account boasting 13.7k followers is full of glimpses of her private life. Her account is full of trips, and birthday celebrations, it feels like she’s journaling her family life for her kids to grow up and look back on.

But how did it all start? Well, to get to this point, the couple has had to deal with a lot of hardships. They met in high school and didn’t waste a lot of time getting married. In fact, it happened as soon as the couple thought they would be able to make something out of their lives together. It was Feb. 2, 2012, when the struggling couple got court married and Jordanna had to hold on to 3 jobs just to watch her family stay afloat.
The only thing left to do was to take vows. “We never shared vows,” she said in a 2016 interview. “When we got married, we said we are going to have a wedding and we are going to exchange vows.” Fast forward to 2016, the couple got remarried and threw a grand wedding with scenic views and hundreds of guests. Sadly, the couple met a tragedy last year and after more than a year of going through agonizing pain, they have been bestowed with good news

In 2023, the couple lost their 2-year-old daughter Arrayah in a drowning accident. Obviously, it’s hard to get over the bone-chilling incident and it’s hard to replace what was once lost. She passed away just 11 days after her second birthday drowning in the backyard pool of their home. But, after a year, on February 3, the pair was blessed with a gift in the form of a small baby girl, Allanah Ray.

“We welcomed our sweet Allanah Ray, our heart is so full,” said the mother. “We love you so much already babygirl!” Life is precious and Shaquil Barrett has a lot to look forward to. After winning 2 Super Bowls, he decided that he wanted to retire and spend his time with his family.

No. 58 was supposed to play for the Miami Dolphins this year, but he changed his mind. His latest post on IG confirmed that he’s out for good. He embraced his family and his career in the Instagram post.

He further expanded, “I’m ready to start building them skills up in my kids which will take 100% commitment. Ik to some it’ll be a surprise but I’ve been thinking about this for a while and the decision has never been more clear then it is now.”
