“I Guess We Fell Out of Love” were her words in 2018, as she opened up about her former love, Offset, after one year of marriage. Their split came as quite a shock to her fans, but some thought it was just a prank. 

The story that began in December 2016 saw all shades of red until things finally ended in the winter of 2023. The American rapper has always been very open about her personal life, which is why, just a minute after breaking up with Offset in December, she went on a livestream just to share the news with her fans. “I’ve been single for a minute now… I just don’t know how to tell the world.” But that wasn’t the first time she announced the news. 

The couple has been separated for nearly two years now, yet the details are scrappy. So why exactly did the couple end things between them?

Why did Cardi B and Offset decide to split? 

Cardi B and Offset were never an ideal couple. Their relationship has been a rollercoaster ride that returned to its stop in December 2023. “They’ve grown apart. That’s what drove her to this decision more than anything else. This is something she wants to do,” said an insider close to them. When the news broke, initially, everyone had the same thought—‘Not the first time.’ Many times in the past when Cardi opened up about her estranged relationship with Offset, she ultimately decided to stay. In January 2023, she said, “The main thing that I wanted him to stop and everything, he stopped and he changed, and it showed me that he wanted to change for me.” But as things continued, she ultimately decided to choose herself. 

It was revealed that Offset had cheated on Cardi multiple times since their marriage. Although he denied all rumors, he was seen making a public appearance with the woman he allegedly had an affair with. Yet, the former couple made every effort to reconcile things. Later, Cardi’s rep told People that the reason for their separation wasn’t “based on cheating rumors, but rather has been a long time coming.”

How many times have Cardi B and Offset split?

Cardi B and Offset met at an industry event in 2016 and had quite a public date on February 5, 2017, aka a Super Bowl date. It marked the first time they were seen holding hands in public. However, the relationship wasn’t confirmed until October 2017, when Offset wished her a ‘Happy Birthday’ in a loving Instagram post. The same month, the first breakup came.

The breakup rumors again surfaced when she and Offset attended the Met Gala separately. Again, they appeared to have reconciled, and Offset released an album featuring him kissing Cardi’s baby bum.

The couple’s first public split came in December 2018 after their marriage on September 17. “Things just haven’t been working out between us for a long time. It’s nobody fault I guess we just grew out of love, but we are not together anymore,” said Cardi. On January 31, 2019, they got back together. 

September 15, 2020

Things were going fine between them for some time until Cardi filed for divorce, just five days before their third anniversary. “The reason for my divorce is not because of none of that s*** that ever happened before. It’s not because of cheating,” she revealed in an Instagram Live. “I just got tired of f***ing arguing. I got tired of not seeing things eye to eye.” Later in October 2020, she reunited with Offset, calling the Migos rapper her “best friend.” On November 2, the divorce was off. 

December 11, 2023

Shortly after Cardi posted the cryptic social media post, “I’m of protecting peoples feelings…I GOTTA PUT MYSELF FIRST!” She announced being single again in an Instagram Live. “I’m curious for a new life, for a new beginning. And yeah, I’m excited,” she said.

On July 31, 2024, Cardi filed for divorce once again. Things felt final when she denied all possibility of reconciliation later in October. 

Did Cardi and Offset see each other after the final separation? 

Other than those cheating rumors, the Migos rapper has remained single officially since his final separation from Cardi. But she sure has moved on. She fell in love with the NFL player, Stefon Diggs, and together they hard-launched their relationship on the NBA court during the playoffs game between the Boston Celtics and the New York Knicks on May 12. 

Their relationship rumor began in October 2024, and they were seen on a romantic date at a Miami hotel on Valentine’s Day. On June 1, they became Instagram official, and a few hours ago, she announced her pregnancy. “I’m having a baby with my boyfriend, Stefon Diggs,” she said on CBS Morning.

Cardi B and Offset now have a “co-parent” relationship for their three children: Kulture, 7, Wave, 4, and 12-month-old Bloosom. Cardi, with a net worth of $80 million, still teaches her children to know the value of things. “They need to know to never feel comfortable. When Cardi B filed for divorce last year, she filed for primary custody of her three children. However, six months later, Offset responded to her divorce filing and requested joint custody of their children, according to TMZ. 

Earlier in May, Cardi claimed that her husband doesn’t contribute anything to their children’s expenses. “I pay for that,” she said while revealing how much she spends on her husband and how much Offset contributes. From Kulture’s $45,000 private school fees to her children’s private driver’s monthly retainer of $10,000, she takes care of everything. 

She revealed it after Offset requested Spousal support in the divorce petition. She slammed the reasoning and said, “Word to my mother, I want you to die, but I want you to die f***ing slow.” Since then, things have been sour between them.
