Another shock to the undefeated. This year, the Kansas City Chiefs have suffered many injuries to their key players. While the team was happy that the RB Kareem Hunt returned to the fold, there came sad news. Their kicker Harrison Butker is also out ahead of week 11.

NFL insider Adam Schefter updated the fans that Butker has injured his left knee and will require surgery for the left meniscus. He has been put on the injured reserve (IR), which means he is out for at least 4 weeks. They have signed Spencer Shrader from the New York Jets practice squad to boost their chances. But how did he get injured?

There’s a very interesting theory proposed by the ex-NFL punter Drew Butler. While posting a video of the kicker, he wrote on X that Harrison Butker has landed on his left knee after taking a kick every time this season. Surprised by the change in the technique, he added, “Unfortunately, it’s not surprising his left knee needs a meniscus procedure.” But this news is a shocker for the fans.

Though short on options and the trade deadline already closed 9 days back on November 5, they checked their depth and added Shrader. A rookie, he has been at Colts and Jets. He also played one game for the Colts. The Chiefs would give him good chances now.

The undefeated campaign is now in danger. Butker has been a key player for them. With 75 points in 9 games in 2024, he was in excellent form as well. Let’s check the updates of other players.

Though the Chiefs have struggled with injuries, there’s good news also incoming for the Chiefdom. WR Juju Smith-Schuster has returned to practice. He was out since week 7 after aggravating a hamstring injury. But with this update, he might play in the week 11 game against the Bills.

Another WR Mecole Hardman was also struggling with an injured shoulder and toe. But he practiced with the team ahead of their week 10 game against the Broncos. Though he didn’t play, it looks like a good possibility against the Bills on November 17.

The injury to Harrison Butker has disappointed everyone. The Chiefs need to be very careful going ahead. Their receiver, DeAndre Hopkins, is also tagging along with a partial MCL tear that might put him down anytime.

Though the team would check their combinations for the best offense on the gridiron, the fans would like them to continue their undefeated season. That’s just another record in the making. If they win the 3-peat, then the history books would have their name on the top. But kicker Butker’s injury can really dent their progress as they are now devoid of experience in this position. Only time will tell, how effective Butker’s replacement is!
