Before Cameron Heyward, four other Steelers players have achieved the Walter Payton NFL Man of the Year Honor, including Franco Harris, Joe Greene, Lynn Swann, and Jerome Bettis. It’s interesting that Cameron’s dad, formerly running back Craig, inspired him to give back to society. Craig passed away from brain cancer when Cameron was only 17. Heyward said, ” When I talk about my dad, he wore No 34, and he’s been with me every step of the way. But I know there was another 34 that was helping me, this man Walter Payton.”

Inspired by his father’s legacy, Cameron extended a helping hand to the community and developed various charitable initiatives, such as The Heyward House Foundation, Cam’s Kindness Week, and the Rufus and Judy Jordan Literacy Project. These aim to eradicate hunger, provide necessities to unprivileged communities, and help cancer patients. His remarkable contribution is even applauded by the Broncos star Russell Wilson.
