After three straight losses, the Arizona Cardinals will be looking forward to getting back on track against the Indianapolis Colts at Lucas Oil Stadium. Currently sitting at the bottom of the NFC West with a 3-2 record, if things don’t turn out well for the Cardinals in the coming weeks, they could be out of the postseason in their fourth straight season. But that’s not the only thing Cardinals will have to worry about, as there’s more bad news before the game against the Colts.

The Cardinals will play the Colts without their QB1, Kyler Murray. Murray suffered a foot injury in the losing game against the Titans, 22-21. He then missed two back-to-back practice sessions on Wednesday and Friday, and things didn’t improve further, as he was limited on Friday as well. Later, HC Jonathan Gannon provided an update. He mentioned that the situation of Murray, along with that of other players on the Injured Reserve, will be analyzed.

“They’re all making progress, we’ll see how it goes”. Gannon said. Despite the progress on Friday, Murray is going to miss the game against the Colts, as reported by NFL Network’s Ian Rapoport. He also mentioned that Murray’s injury status indicates his unavailability will not be limited to today’s game, as he may miss upcoming games as well.

Before getting injured against the Tennessee Titans, Murray completed 68.3% of his throws for 962 yards, rushing for 173 yards. He even had six touchdowns and three interceptions. Murray’s injury has only made the Cardinals’ situation worse, as James Conner is already going to miss the season because of his ankle injury, and backup Trey Benson has been put on IR because of his week 4 injury. With Murray’s unavailability against the Colts, a veteran QB has stepped in.

Jacoby Brissett is back in action

The 32-year-old QB Jacoby Brissett is going to start against the Colts in place of Murray in the Week 6 showdown. Brissett has a decade of experience backing up his ability, and his stats speak for themselves.

He stands tall in the stats section with 11,400 yards, 53 touchdown passes, and only 24 interceptions. His 1.4 interception percentage is the lowest in NFL history. Back in 2024, he played 8 games for the New England Patriots and then joined the Cardinals on a two-year, $12.5 million contract.

Tim Wood’s Fantasy Take: Marvin Harrison Jr. becomes a clear sit for this matchup, while Trey McBride will likely see a much bigger target presence as a check-down security blanket for Carson Brissett. Brissett is historically more willing to take midrange shots across the middle, which benefits McBride, and is less precise on throws down the sidelines that would feature Harrison.
