Adam Schefter is facing some heat. The NFL insider allegedly made a false report regarding the contract details of Jaguars’ star QB Josh Allen. Schefter initially reported Allen had signed a five-year, $150 million contract with the Jags. But, fellow insider Mike Florio called out Schefter for misleading reporting, stating that the actual value of the contract was somewhat lesser.

By providing accurate and reliable information, reporters can uphold the integrity of the profession and ensure fans have access to trustworthy news. Florio highlighted the same by focusing on the importance of accuracy in reporting contract details, questioning Schefter’s usage of a number that wasn’t the true value.

Florio posted on X, “It’s not a $150 million contract. It’s not a huge difference at $141.25 million, but why use a number that isn’t the true number?”. In a different post, Florio broke down the contract structure, revealing the base value as $141.25 million, with an average annual value of $28.25 million. He further outlined that the payment schedule, including guaranteed amounts and incentives for Allen will reach the $150 million mark.

Florio’s analysis showed that the contract would only reach $150 million if Allen met specific performance benchmarks, such as achieving 17.5 sacks or more each year and receiving Pro Bowl or first-team All-Pro honors consistently. Interestingly, Mike pointed out that his own website, Pro Football Talk, had initially reported the contract as a five-year, $150 million deal based on “multiple reports.”

As per the Jaguars official site, the 27-year-old expressed his gratitude for the opportunity and shared his aspirations beyond financial success. He stated, “I’m extremely blessed and honored to get this paycheck – or to get these checks, but I still set goals for myself, Defensive player of the Year is my next goal – winning in the Super Bowl, being the MVP of it. I’m a legacy guy. I have to win the Super Bowl and be the MVP.”

He aims to surpass his sister Myisha Hines-Allen, a WNBA champion, by winning a Super Bowl and becoming an MVP. He emphasized, “That’s motivating me. That’s bigger than money, you know?”

Allen’s extension marks a important moment for the Jaguars, as he becomes the third first-round draft pick from 2008 to 2020 to sign a long-term deal with the Jacksonville team. This move underscores the team’s commitment to building a competitive roster and achieving sustained success in the league.
