The NFL’s wide receivers are not slowing down. When we say this, we mean it. They’re fast on the gridiron and even faster on the roads. This season’s been packed with drama, both on and off the field. How many of you remember Dolphins star Tyreek Hill getting arrested by Miami police for speeding? Most of us do—it was just back in September. It’s too soon to forget about it. Joining him in the club later in November was Rams WR Demarcus Robinson.

Robinson was arrested in California, outside SoFi Stadium, after their Week 12 loss to the Eagles. Such a Tyreek Hill-like situation. The only difference is Tyreek was speeding on his way to a game that Miami ended up winning, while Robinson was speeding after a loss. Anyway, while Tyreek faced speeding charges, Robinson is now charged with a DUI (driving under the influence) just ahead of the first postseason game. Rams fans need not get worked up; the WR will still play in the team’s first postseason game.

The authorities pulled the Rams WR over for driving over 100 miles per hour. Upon investigation, the California Highway Patrol also found signs of intoxication. Even with all the drama, the Rams WR played in the rest of the season’s games. Rams HC Sean McVay backed him up, saying he was “remorseful” for what happened. I think he does understand the severity of this, and how lucky we were that nobody was injured. I do believe that he’s remorseful. We are going to let the legal process take place. The league has a process as well,” said McVay.

Now, with the postseason around the corner, Robinson is facing a serious legal charge. Rams fans must be hoping he stays focused. But can he, knowing a legal charge is hanging over his head?

Demarcus Robinson stays on the roster despite legal troubles

Demarcus Robinson has been playing as the Rams’ unofficial WR1 this season, after Cooper Kupp has been in and out due to injuries. Over 17 games, Robinson has put up 505 yards and 31 receptions, with seven TDs to his name. He has had the Rams back in the absence of Kupp. The team didn’t suspend Robinson after his speeding arrest back in November, and there’s no reason to think they’ll do it now, ahead of the Wild Card game.

But now, Robinson’s got to deal with the pressure of not only making it to the Divisional Round but also his looming legal troubles. Will this all affect his performance in the game against the Vikings? Only he knows.

According to TMZ, Robinson will appear before the attorney in February, likely after the Super Bowl (if the Rams make it that far). Amid these new charges, fans aren’t holding back, throwing criticism the WR’s way. “NFL wide receivers might never learn. Sad, really,” writes a fan on X. “Suspend him for the Vikings game,” commented another user.

Anyway, the Wild Card round is approaching. The NFL moved the Rams and Vikings game to Arizona, causing the Rams to lose their home-field advantage. They made the shift due to the wildfires in LA. Robinson’s legal mess still hangs over him, but the Rams need him to stay focused if they want to push through the postseason (a lot’s riding on this). The pressure is on him and the team as they head into the playoffs.
