The NFL’s Week 2 game between the Houston Texans and Chicago Bears was on! The Texans were ahead of the away team with 19-13 in the fourth quarter, ultimately ending up with this same score. As expected, the Bears were trying to push themselves to get the score even as soon as possible in the game. However, they failed to succeed. But amidst this game, a play caught the eyeballs of viewers, where the Bears tried to win the call.
In the Sunday game, during the second quarter at 10:34 on the clock, the Texans QB CJ Stroud threw a long dime pass to WR Stefon Diggs near the Bears’ sideline. As per expectations, Diggs perfectly caught the pass and ran for 1st down. Although he was successful in doing so before being pushed out of bounds by Bears CB Tyrique Stevenson, the refs refused against it. What happened was that this play happened right in front of Bears coach Matt Eberflus. He had a clear view of Diggs getting both feet in bounds.
Despite the obvious catch, Eberflus decided to challenge the play. It seemed like a waste of a challenge and timeout, especially since he saw it up close. So, after this controversial 1st down, Eberflus’ challenge ultimately resulted in overturning with the on-field call being backed.

This resulted in chaos on social media, with a fan explaining what happened at the game: “A challenge from Houston over Stefon Diggs’ dive for the first down and the broadcast shows multiple camera angles of the play, however the call on the field stood. Houston with a field goal they lead 13-3 with 10 minutes left in the half.”
Another fan questioned the call, saying, “We have the technology to be 100% positive that a challenged play like that Stefon Diggs one is always called correctly, but instead we still trust a guy that wears THICK vertical stripes after Labor Day to mentally flip a coin and decide what the call is.”
Well, the team’s new WR Stefon Diggs, and his catches are making headlines this season. Before this challenging play, Diggs’ previous game’s catch and touchdown made a wave on the internet as well for good reasons.
Stefon Diggs hit a milestone in his debut game with the Texans!
Stefon Diggs made his first catch as a Houston Texan in the Week 1 game, and with it, he crossed a major milestone – 10,000 career receiving yards. That’s definitely not a small feat, as only 56 players in NFL history have done it so far. Although it wasn’t a flashy catch (just five yards), it was a monumental one. And guess what? He didn’t stop there!
In the same game against the Colts, Diggs scored his first touchdown for Houston, catching a 9-yard pass from C.J. Stroud. Till now, Diggs has registered two touchdowns in the 2024 season. And did you know? This season, he is on the verge of even more records.

Diggs is just over 80 catches away from joining Marvin Harrison as the only player with 900 receptions in their first 10 seasons. Plus, he could become one of only three players in NFL history to have 100 receptions in six different seasons.
With 68 career touchdowns and a fresh start in Houston, Diggs is just getting started. It’s going to be an exciting season for him and his team, especially when they are strong with two back-to-back wins.
