Although the Colts managed to cause an upset by defeating the unbeaten Steelers by 27-24 last week in Indianapolis. They had to suffer a major injury in doing so, as Anthony Richardson hurt his hip during the first quarter in Lucas Oil Stadium. Even though he tried going back in, it didn’t work, and the Colts QB eventually left the field to go back to his locker room.

Offering an update on his availability, ESPN’s reporter Jeremy Fowler said it would be a game-time decision. The Colts are ruling him out before the Jaguars clash as head coach Shane Steichen conveyed, “We’ll see” regarding Richardson’s availability. Well, there is a slight chance of the 22-year-old making it to Jacksonville, considering his practice prior to this clash.

As the Colts prepared to take on the Jaguars this week, Richardson was limited but did practice with the squad. Even Friday, the C0lts QB had little involvement, tossing a few throws behind Joe Flacco. However, when it came to giving his thoughts about recovery, Anthony shared, “I feel good. I am just a little sore, but better than after the game, so that’s good news right there.”

But considering the day Flacco steadied the ship against the Steelers, his absence may not affect the team so much. On the night when the Steelers were looking to extend their unbeaten run, Flacco’s 16-of-26 passes for 168 yards and two touchdowns were decisive enough. Flacco could even replace Richardson, considering his poor start to the season. With a passer rating of 60.2 and an NFL-leading 6 interceptions and just 3 touchdowns, the Colts QB haven’t had the perfect start he would have expected.

Well, he even found himself questioned for being injury-prone after starting only eight games in the NFL.

Anthony Richardson faces heat after latest injury in Indianapolis

Since joining the Colts last summer as their fourth overall pick, Richardson has mostly found himself on the injury reserves instead of the gridiron. Going back to his rookie season, Anthony’s season was cut short after a season-ending shoulder injury. He has only managed to finish four games among the eight he started in blue and white. When asked about his thoughts on being injury-prone, the Colts QB shared, “Well, it’s football. I’m pretty sure if they got out the house and came out here and got hit by somebody that’s running 20+ mph every week. I’m pretty sure they’d be sore and dealing with injuries as well.”

Over the four games he played prior to his shoulder injury last season, Richardson rushed 25 times for 136 yards. His four TDs were nowhere near the expectations that the Colts had in mind when picking him last year. Well, the 22-year-old also defended his absence from the field, saying, “People are gonna talk, that’s what people do. I’m not necessarily worried about. I’m just trying to focus on getting better day by day.”

Will Richardson manage to return on time as the Colts would like to continue their winning run after beating the Bears and Steelers in consecutive weeks? Guess we will find out, but for now, he remains questionable.
