Will Jason Kelce Join Andy Reid’s Coaching Staff at Chiefs? Here’s Why Travis Kelce Might Bring Retired Legend to Kansas City
Follow Us
The former Philadelphia Eagles star Jason Kelce has revolutionized the position of Center forever in the game. Now, with his playing career firmly behind him, could we see the Super Bowl winner in a coaching role? And could it be at his brother’s Kansas City Chiefs?
Ever since moving to the offensive line in his college days, Kelce has been an astute student of the game. His partnership with fellow offensive lineman Lane Johnson delivered the Eagles the Super Bowl. And his competitive nature will not allow him to be a mere analyst for a show. Even then, he has his highly successful podcast, ‘New Heights’ for all the analysis.
The 7X Pro Bowler’s personality is well-suited to be a player-friendly coach. With his experience and success, he can naturally command the respect of players from all age groups. The 36-year-old can be a natural fit as the offensive line coach at any franchise.

However, if the Eagles wanted to hire him, they would’ve made the decision. And Kelce would’ve mentioned it at the press conference. This suggests that Kelce could be moving on from the Eagles entirely. But could his new destination be closer to his brother Travis Kelce?

Ever since the siblings were at Cincinnati University, where their playing careers overlapped in 2009-10. The duo has not been part of the same unit. But that could change, and younger brother Travis could be the catalyst in doing so! Jason Kelce’s die-hard support for the Chiefs has been evident, especially this season. Even when his wife Kylie Kelce disapproved of the way he did it. Hence, the players and the staff at the Chiefs consider him a part of the Chiefs Kingdom.

Further, the current offensive line coach at the Chiefs, Andy Heck, has occupied that position since 2013. He has been very successful, but he could be moving on to bigger roles at other franchises or within the Chiefs’ system. After 10 years in one position, that is to be expected. And this would open up the possibility of Kelce taking over.

Numerous possibilities, but what does Jason Kelce want to do?
Kelce put down his cleats after contributing 13 years to the game. In the process, he became a Super Bowl winner and a 7-time Pro Bowler. He has immense knowledge and tactical know-how to pass on. And there is ample opportunity for him to do so at the Arrowhead Stadium. But does he really want to engage with more football after retirement?
As per his own admission, he is open to helping young players; just not on a full-time basis. Becoming a TV analyst is also a possibility. Names like CBS, NBC, and ESPN are considering him to be a strong option. But the older Kelce brother is also looking to make changes in his personal life.

“I look forward to doing something that’s not football. I’ve been so committed to the sport for so long. It’s embarrassing when your wife knows how to do more housework, like I can’t — her dad’s an electrician. She can fish wires, Kylie can fish wires… I like the show ‘Forged in Fire,’ I want to go to a blacksmith and make a freaking knife. That’d be fun,” he said.
Stepping away from the sport will also give him an opportunity to become a fan of other teams. Of course, he will always be an Eagles fan, but with his Cleveland roots, he could also support the Browns. Plus, his love for Travis Kelce’s Kansas City is also well known. He could truly engage with the sport as a fan.
Additionally, he will no longer have to bulk up as he used to. He looks forward to cutting weight to 250 lbs.
