The Minnesota Vikings had a perfect start to their season after playing the Giants off the park at their home last Sunday. But as they prepare for their next test in this year’s season, the Vikings might have an issue on their hand. Visiting them in Minneapolis would be the 49ers, who made light work of the Jets in their season opener.

As franchises release their injury report ahead of week 2, ESPN insider Adam Schefter reported WR Jordan Addison will be ruled out against the 49ers amid his ongoing ankle injury. After catching three passes and notching 35 yards, the 22-year-old left the field, citing a right ankle sprain.

From the first glance, it looked like the Vikings WR re-injured his ankle, like the one he suffered in August. But this time, the injury is a little different. As Addison’s last injury was in his left ankle, which kept him away until his return in week 1. However, that happiness was short-lived, as Jordan Addison soon had to step away with another ankle injury.

Looking back on last season’s numbers for the rookie, he ensured everyone gets a glimpse of the capabilities he possesses. After getting drafted as the No. 23 overall pick, Addison racked up 911 receiving yards, 10 TDs and 70 receptions in his rookie season. But this time out against the 49ers, Jalen Nailor and Brandon Powell could be handed the responsibility of catching the passes thrown by Sam Darnold. Although Justin Jefferson is present to help the team whenever needed, it might not be enough against last season’s Super Bowl runners-ups.

Jordan Addison’s Vikings await the arrival of the 49ers in their backyard

It was back in 1961 when the Vikings first recorded their home win against the visiting Bears. From that day till now, the Vikings have notched up 38 wins among the 63 they have played in Minneapolis. Even though the 49ers have enjoyed major success in recent years, their away matches haven’t borne the right results.

With a record of 31-42-1, the 49ers would be hoping they can continue their season with two wins against their name. Speaking about this highly slated encounter, Pete Prisco of CBS Sports stated, “Both of these teams impressed in their week 1 victory. The 49ers pushed down around a good Jets defense without Christian McCaffrey. This Minnesota defense impressed against New York. And I think they will play well here.”

Remember, last season, the 49ers played every other team to not just win but score big while racking up 11 wins in regular season matches. But those statistics aren’t that important, considering the 49ers’ dominant display on Tuesday amid their star RB McCaffrey’s absence.

As the Niners hit the road to visit Minneapolis, they would be hoping the Vikings don’t stand as a roadblock to their ultimate dream of revenge in the Super Bowl. However, only time will tell whether they will be successful in doing so. Or will the Vikings put breaks on their wheels?
