He did say that there was only a small chance that he would end up with the Steelers, but that “it might not be fair.”

Steelers need to find a more permanent QB

Just because Russell Wilson could technically sign for the bare minimum, it doesn’t mean he’s going to settle for that. If he’s heading to Pittsburgh, Woody stated that Wilson will fight for a better deal. It’s about more than money—it’s about respect and not being sidelined. His last two games with the Broncos were spent on the bench. He would not want to repeat that.

However, having to compete with a younger QB could be just the challenge Wilson needs to hit his stride again. Even if he clinches the spot, it’s more of a quick fix for the Steelers. Wilson is 36, and he isn’t getting any younger. They will need to find a more permanent solution to their QB woes, eventually.
