After outshining 31 teams in the 2025 NFL draft, Sean Payton and the Denver Broncos are still focusing on adding up stars. This time, the franchise is focusing on their former player and the Texans’ 1st round pick of the 2010 class. The free agent is a star defender and will be the same in the Broncos’ training camp. The main job of veteran player Kareem Jackson is also confirmed.
The 9news’ Mike Klis first reported on May 11, “While Jackson has not officially retired as a player, he worked with George Paton’s personnel staff during rookie camp.” The reporter also added, “Whenever he’s ready to call it a career, it appears he could potentially begin his post-playing transition in a scouting role with the Broncos.” Klis reported that this could be Jackson’s temporary job with the Broncos and will be guiding the rookie in mini-camp.

Sean Payton’s team traded for the 37-YO safety in the 2019 season. He played four seasons for the franchise. He played the 2023 season and 2024 season with the Texans and the Bills, respectively, but would probably end up being a star scout and defensive guide for the Broncos from 2025. And most importantly, he is the right guy who can definitely work for the team’s better defensive future, either as a player or as a temporary guide.
In his 15-year NFL career, the 20th overall pick of the 2010 NFL draft, Kareem Jackson, has played a staggering 205 games. To talk about his stats, Sean Payton’s newly added beast has made 959 total tackles in his career, out of which 739 are solo tackles. In the last 15 years, Jackson made only three sacks, as a safety’s main job is to tackle wide receivers and running backs. But he has covered 389 yards to tackle these many players.
This gives us a snippet of Jackson’s illustrious career and the genius defensive mind he has. But there is still confusion among fans that he hasn’t retired yet. Fans really care about the 37-year-old player’s future, but now they would be happy as Kareem Jackson will join his former team not only as a player but also as a guide as well.

Whether Kareem Jackson is taking up the coaching or personnel role, the veteran player has still not yet made a decision about his playing career. Last year, he played for the Bills, he played only three NFL games and made only four total tackles- three against the Detroit Lions and one against the New England Patriots. These stats subtly suggest that Sean Payton’s new addition, Jackson, would be thinking about retirement while a new offer is still there for 2025.

But his last three seasons were not that great, where he played a total of 12 games, unlike his career before 2022. Maybe that’s why he is cooking up a new deal with Sean Payton’s team to help out with the defense. But hold on, this could be a temporary gig, and the franchise may decide to continue in the future with Kareem.
