In a classic case of ‘you’ve got to be kidding,’ Jets’ owner Woody Johnson’s become the talk of the town—though not in a good way.

With New York stumbling to a 2-4 record, Johnson dropped a gem of a quote when discussing a Davante Adams trade, saying, “You know, thinking is overrated. You have to look forward. We have to look forward to the games we’re going to play each and every week and try to win all of them … you just have to go with your instinct and what’s the best thing to build a team.” Talk about flying blind!

Irrespective of the Jets’ rough start, the owner’s confidence’s pretty unshakeable. Just a day after a cringe-worthy loss to the Buffs, he faced reporters and dismissed concerns about the team’s future. When asked if the season was still salvageable, he defiantly replied, “We’re going to kick…you can add the words in. We’re going to do really well.” Yeah, okay, Woody. That’s a bold stance for a team that’s clearly struggling!

This comes on the heels of Johnson firing HC Robert Saleh, replacing him with interim coach Jeff Ulbrich. He insists the Jets have a championship-caliber roster, even though NFL history ain’t on his side—no team’s ever reached the Super Bowl after firing its head coach mid-season. And let’s not forget the glaring issues from their recent game: 11 penalties, two missed field goals, and a mere three points scored in the second half. Oof!

Fans went crazy on social media after hearing Woody Johnson’s head-scratching remarks.

Jets fans react: Woody Johnson’s ownership gets too real for comfort

When your team owner drops a line like “thinking is overrated,” you know it’s time for Jets fans to unleash the memes. One fan nailed it with, “Thinking is overrated – Jets football!” This classic jab perfectly sums up the prevailing feeling that the Jets are flying blind, relying on gut feelings rather than logic.

Another fan chimed in with, “Unfortunately, his instincts are always wrong.” Ouch! This one hits home, as NYJ supporters have endured a long history of questionable decisions from the front office. It’s like that friend who always suggests the worst restaurants but insists they have ‘great vibes.’ Not what you want in your team’s leadership.

Then there’s the sarcastic classic: “The Jets have been a laughing stock since 1969 and will continue to be.” This comment brings the history lesson and the shade all in one. Jets fans are basically saying, “Hey, we know we’ve got a punchline for a franchise. Can we stop being the joke already?”

Lastly, one fan kind of desperately pleaded, “Can he please sell the team?” This is the cry of a weary soul craving a fresh start. New York’s had enough of the same old story and is eager for new leadership. Until then, the jokes will keep rolling in, just like an endless highlight reel of past blunders.
