The Faithfuls, get ready for 2024. The wait for the season is soon to be over. But one wait has finished. And the Niners have got what they wanted. Mike Garofolo reported that the 49ers and Brandon Aiyuk‘s agent, Ryan Williams, have found a common ground. Cheers! The rumored deal is 4-years, $120 million with $76 million guaranteed. The receiver will stay in California. Amidst this big contract, GM John Lynch and WR’s video is getting viral. It’s 4 years old!

After drafting him in the 2020 NFL draft, GM and Head Coach Kyle Shanahan had a brief talk with the wide receiver. GM told him, “Hey, know as you go to bed tonight you were expensive man. You cost us a lot, but you’re worth it!” The WR replied, “I’m going to be worth everything. I’m going to work.” Joining the conversation, the coach said, “We are pumped, man. Enjoy the night with your family. We can’t wait to get started.” Aiyuk replied politely to HC, “Yes, sir. Thank you.” The hype was all around Aiyuk. 49ers rookie contract was a 4-year $12.5 million contract with a $6.6 million signing bonus. It was the same in this offseason as well. Let’s check what happened during the off-season.

Initially, Brandon Aiyuk wanted a deal with the Niners, but they couldn’t agree. Hence, the franchise decided to trade him. They even had talks with the Patriots and Browns, but the WR declined that. Lynch also wanted to get value from the trade, so didn’t agree to the Steelers‘ offer. The receiver didn’t hold out from training but he didn’t attend the practice lately. The path is clear now! He has got a big bag.

Just 2 days back, on the 28th of August, Shanahan refused any development in contract extension talks with Aiyuk. But Lynch said, “I don’t know that I saw the standoff with Brandon. We don’t get paid to try. We get paid to do. And I’ll take accountability for anything that hasn’t happened. But I won’t stop continuing to fight to find the best resolution, whatever that may be.” Kudos to him! He did what he said. It’s a reminder of the situation which happened 4 years ago. The 49ers spent a lot of money to keep their receiver. Had they done it earlier, they would have avoided the drama. All’s well that ends well!

Teammates congratulate Brandon Aiyuk on signing a contract extension

Another 49ers WR, Deebo Samuel Sr., congratulated his teammate as soon as he learned of the contract deal. Sharing a photo of them in his Instagram story, he wrote, “Mooodddd…Kongrats bruddah.” The news is indeed good. Samuel did the same thing that Brandon Aiyuk did (staying off from practice) during the off-season. He had warned fellow WR that the process be ‘frustrating at times.” At last, the doubts are over. Aiyuk is roaring to go.

During his college years, Aiyuk’s nickname was YAK (Yard After King). And with his performance in the last 2 seasons, he has been proving it. In 2022, he made 17 receptions for 1,015 yards with 8 touchdowns. In 2023, he upped his yards game with 75 receptions for 1,342 yards with 7 touchdowns. The Niners are desperately looking for a Super Bowl. Last year, they missed it by a whisker.
