The Philadelphia Eagles finally broke a 3-game losing streak with a win against the New York Giants. After a close 33-25 win, the Eagles have maintained their position in the seed and are back the at top of the NFC East. However, a botch from Jalen Hurts and his ability to take on a blitz has raised questions about the franchise.

The atmosphere was entirely different at Lincoln Finacial Field despite the Eagles’ Christmas win. Fans chanted “run the ball” amid a disappointing stretch from the offense. Nick Sirianni came forward in a presser and addressed the much-needed win against the Giants. Sirianni praised Hurts for doing a “really good job” and getting the team back on the map again. The Eagles now maintain a PCT of .733 and are back in the Super Bowl race once again.

During the post-game conference, Nick Sirianni acknowledged that the jeers were heard loud and clear. The Eagles HC initially addressed the Christmas win against the Giants and mentioned how it felt good to make it out of the slump. However, a reporter asked the HC about how Jalen Hurts is handling things on the field, especially the blitzes. “How did Jalen handle the blitz?” asked the reporter.

“I thought he did a lot of good things,” said Sirianni of Hurts and went ahead to give credit to the Giants DC Don Martindale. Sirianni talked about Giants DC’s defensive plays and gave credit where it was due. He also mentioned that the team needs to watch the tapes and see what went wrong, and addressed the interception on Hurts.

You know the interception is not on him but I’ll have to watch you know the other things with that and we will get better from it.” Said Sirianni and added, “I thought he did a lot of good things there even with the pressure but there are definitely things we need to clean up”

The Eagles are now 11-4, and after a very long time, Jalen Hurts managed to have a 300-yard game.

Jalen Hurts taking over the Lincoln Field

After 3 straight losses, Jalen Hurts finally squeezed a win and came out with 301 passing yards and a 63.2% pass completion rate. He made 24 out of the 38 passes he made averaging 7.9 yards. However, Hurts’ pass to Dallas Goedert was intercepted by Adoree Jackson and he returned the pick for a touchdown. Sirianni addressed the play and said that the team needed to ‘clean up’.

Hurts was also sacked once in the game, and the team again relied on the infamous ‘tush push’ to get him a touchdown. Again, in this game, just like many others, the Eagles relied on Jake Elliott to make the FGs and get some points on the board. Some time ago, the Eagles switched Sean Desai and Matt Patricia’s roles to bolster the Eagles’ defense. Luckily, the cascade is working out for them. The Eagles will be playing against the Arizona Cardinals at home next.

One take at a time

Basketball has stuck with me ever since I was a kid. I remember watching Kobe Bryant sometime in 2008 and being blown away. Like every kid my age, I was utterly taken aback by his moves and abilities as an athlete.
