The key player driving the 49ers’ powerful offense this season, Christian McCaffrey, received the title of the 2023 Associated Press NFL Offensive Player of the Year on Thursday night at NFL Honors. This recognition follows what is regarded as one of his best individual seasons since entering the league in 2017.

He was recorded as the NFL’s rushing yards leader (1,459) and rushing touchdowns leader (14) this season. McCaffrey faced tough competition from Tyreek Hill, CeeDee Lamb, Lamar Jackson, and Dak Prescott. But the 49ers player was a strong favorite to win the award, as he received 39 of 50 first-place votes, earning 222 points.
