The Denver Broncos were hoping for a smooth run when they signed the five-year contract with Randy Gregory. But the NFL linebacker seems to be of no use anymore to the Broncos. Head coach Sean Payton spoke to the media on behalf of the team and answered questions. The Broncos coach stated the decision was the best for the team per the timing. The veteran linebacker is all open for taking if anyone is interested.

Waiving Randy off was not a ‘mutual’ decision
Sean Payton interacted with the media after Wednesday’s practice as the Denver Broncos released news of letting Randy go. According to the team coach, the transaction is not final. He further confirmed that Randy Gregory is available for trade-off options. The team will not release the veteran linebacker yet. But the Broncos will not wait more than 48 hours before confirming whether a trade happens.
Payton told the media, “It hasn’t been finalized yet because, typically, before a transaction takes place, there may be some teams interested in a trade. If any of that came to fruition, we would let you guys know. We felt like with some of our younger players, and where we are going, it was best for our team right now.”

With high hopes, the Denver Broncos signed Randy last year for $70 million. But the linebacker became a hefty investment for the team due to his injury and declining gameplay. Now, after a whole year, there’s not much that Gregory has contributed to the team. The linebacker will be cut from the roster officially, as decided by the organization.
Now that the Broncos have decided to let Randy Gregory go, is there a possible trade-off for the linebacker?

Potential trade options for Randy Gregory
The Dallas Cowboys were more than ready to continue with Gregory last year. But the linebacker decided to leave, nonetheless. Despite no confirmation, the Cowboys may pass on this opportunity to welcome back Gregory.
There is a possibility that teams might be waiting for Gregory to be released before making their move. Yet making the trade by paying the Broncos is a sure-shot way to land Gregory. With the declining status of Randy’s gameplay, it seems he will be released by the Broncos soon.

With all the shenanigans, the Broncos are yet to decide their lineup for the upcoming matches, per Payton. Only time will tell if the lack of a good linebacker will impact the Denver Broncos.
