The accident that he sustained after catching his own batted pass led to Smith being taken to the locker room amidst the ongoing match itself. The incident of concern had happened as the QB had reached the sideline. Linebacker Isaiah Simmons, who jumped on Smith’s back to bring him down, had tackled him from behind. This led to Smith’s legs twisting underneath him, causing the pain to not subside in the required amount of break time provided during the first half.
