The Seattle Seahawks faced a major setback as their quarterback, Geno Smith, has been listed as questionable. On Monday night, while playing against the New York Giants, Smith suffered a knee injury. He had to leave the field during the first half of the game itself, causing major concerns to surrounding his injury and the condition of the Seahawks.

Head coach Pete Carroll and the team, losing one of their pillar players, had to make a tough choice on whom to choose as the suitable replacement for the star. Recalling last year’s contributions of the footballer, his exceptional performance had led to the team entering the playoffs. However, the times of challenge draw attention back to how the injury in question occurred.

How did the star quarterback get injured?

In a recent tweet by Brady Anderson, an update on the football star’s knee injury was dropped. The accident that he sustained after catching his own batted pass led to Smith being taken to the locker room amidst the ongoing match itself. He was seen limping, clearly indicating the tough time the athlete was facing on the field.

The incident of concern had happened as the QB had reached the sideline. Linebacker Isaiah Simmons, who jumped on Smith’s back to bring him down, had tackled him from behind. This led to Smith’s legs twisting underneath him, causing the pain to not subside in the required amount of break time provided during the first half.

However, after missing time in the first half due to a knee concern, quarterback Geno Smith made a comeback against the Giants in the second half. It appeared that Smith’s injury was under control by the time the second part of the matchup rolled in. In the absence of Smith, Drew Lock took over his place and led the team on a touchdown drive.

For the Seahawks, Smith is not the only important player suffering from injuries at the current moment. After just nine snaps into his first game since Week 2 of last year, Safety Jamal Adams sustained a concussion, which ruled him out of the game. Though, with Geno Smith being the current backbone of the side, his absence would have alerted the team on another level.

After Russell Wilson was traded to the Denver Broncos, Smith was allowed to be the Seattle Seahawks’ starting quarterback. However, in 2022, he led the Seahawks to the playoffs, gaining the support of thousands of fans around. For this great performance, Smith got his reward not only through the admiration of the football lovers. After last season, Smith signed a $75 million, 3-year contract with the Seahawks.
