CJ Stroud Falls Short of History, Latest Error Still Translates to Victory for Houston

As the Houston Texans host the New Orleans Saints for their Week 6 game at NRG Stadium, adrenaline is running high. The 2-3 Texans will try to raise their score to 0.500 before Week 7. But scoring points against the Saints is an uphill task. The Saints currently are the league’s fourth-best defense, giving up an average of 274.9 yards while allowing 15.2 points and registering 11 sacks.

This match will be special for Texans QB C. J. Stroud as he attempts to maintain his 0 interception record. But alas, in the first quarter itself, the best-in-class Saints defense threw cold water on Stroud’s dreams.

C. J. Stroud makes a costly mistake

Texans QB C. J. Stroud has been pressured on only 32.9% of his snaps and is yet to throw an interception in 186 passes, the most to start an NFL career. He also has an average of 292.2 passing yards per game, placing him third in the league. But Saints coach Dennis Allen had been preparing for this. He had made sure his team understood what they would be up against on Sunday. Brooks Kubena took to X to break the news to Texans fans.

And the team delivered. Luckily for the Texans, the ball was recovered in a fumble on the same play. Once Houston was in possession of the ball again, Stroud made the Saints pay for breaking his 0 interception record. He passed the ball to TE Dalton Schultz and… touchdown! As the game enters the second quarter, will Stroud make the entire Saints team pay with a crushing defeat?

Texans hand Saints their third defeat of the season

It seems that they did. In the second quarter, the Texans raked in 10 points while the Saints managed to score a field goal. The game from then on, the teams seemed to follow each other. Both of them scored a field goal each in the third quarter and ended the fourth quarter with 0 points. However, the damage had been done by then and the Texans won their third win of the season, and handed the Saints their third defeat.

With this, both teams are now at 3-3, and have a score of 0.500. The Texans have an interesting week ahead as they are set to face off against a winless Carolina Panthers, while the New Orleans Saints will take on the Jacksonville Jaguars. Will the Saints’ defense come to their rescue in the Jaguars match? They were unable to hold the fort in the Texans match, however, fans are hoping this was a one-off incident.
