Indianapolis Colts started the game against the Baltimore Ravens without their star QB Anthony Richardson [https://www.essentiallysports.com/tag/anthony-richardson/]. He was declared unfit after their win against the Houston Texans and it seemed that the Colts would miss him as they went down 7-0 in the first quarter. But, backup QB Gardner Minshew had other plans. The Colts did not start the season as they would’ve wanted to after losing their first game against the Jaguars [https://www.essentiallysports.com/category/nfl/jacksonville-jaguars-nfl/] but came back strong against the Texans [https://www.essentiallysports.com/category/nfl/houston-texans/]. Rookie QB Richardson was instrumental in the win, but with him sitting out this game, fans had little hope. The No. 10 backup QB started slow in the first quarter but found his rhythm in the second quarter. BACKUP QB DAZZLES RAVENS DEFENSE AND FANS While the game is paused for half-time, it would benefit the Ravens [https://www.essentiallysports.com/category/nfl/baltimore-ravens/]‘ defense to put together a strategy to counter the pace and accuracy of Minshew. Fans on the other hand would love to witness more of the same in the next two quarters. <p style="text-align: center">The Ravens Foundation is the team's charitable arm committed to encouraging and enabling the healthy development of youth in Baltimore and other parts of Maryland. Recent foundation projects include the renovation of the football stadium at Baltimore Polytechnic Institute and the Playground at Collington Square School. The foundation also distributed $100,000 in grants to area nonprofits.</p>

In August 1920, representatives from four states: Akron, Canton, Cleveland, and Dayton, held a meeting and formed the American Professional Football Conference (APFC) to improve footballing standards in the country. A month later, they formed the American Professional Football Association (APFA) and played a league with 14 teams. In 1922, they changed the name to the National Football League (NFL).

In 1960, a new professional league, the American Football League (AFL) started as a competition against the NFL. After six years, in 1966, the two leagues announced a merger that would take effect in 1970. NFL History In August 1920, representatives from four states: Akron, Canton, Cleveland, and Dayton, held a meeting and formed the American Professional Football Conference (APFC) to improve footballing standards in the country. A month later, they formed the American Professional Football Association (APFA) and played a league with 14 teams. In 1922, they changed the name to the National Football League (NFL). In 1960, a new professional league, the American Football League (AFL) started as a competition against the NFL. After six years, in 1966, the two leagues announced a merger that would take effect in 1970. During the four years between the announcement and the actual merger, the leagues started playing a Championship game which was called The Super Bowl. Since then, the two leagues have been recognized as two separate conferences within the same league, the NFL. Participating teams There are 32 teams in the NFL divided equally into two conferences: National Football Conference (NFC) and the American Football Conference (AFC). Each conference is further divided into 4 divisions: East, North, South, and West, with each division containing four teams.
