With Micah Parsons gone, the Dallas Cowboys are exploring pass-rush options, including former No. 1 pick Jadeveon Clowney. But the juggling continues. Just as Jerry Jones locked in cornerback DaRon Bland with a $92 million extension, fresh concerns are now emerging around his availability.

ESPN’s Todd Archer revealed that Bland suffered a right foot injury during Monday’s practice, which could keep him out “for a couple of weeks.” Adding to the worry, Nick Harris from the Fort Worth Star-Telegram spotted Bland in a boot inside the Cowboys’ facility on Wednesday. This isn’t a minor issue, especially considering Bland missed 10 games last season due to a foot fracture.
The Dallas Cowboys could be without cornerback DaRon Bland for a couple of weeks because of a right foot injury suffered in Monday’s practice, according to multiple sources.

When DaRon Bland is on the field, you can’t miss him. The 26-year-old cornerback was picked in the fifth round of the 2022 draft out of Fresno State, but he quickly proved he belonged. He grabbed five interceptions in his rookie season, but it was his second year that really stood out, he earned First-Team All-Pro honors and made it to the Pro Bowl.
The young cornerback had a great season in 2023. He made 69 tackles, led the league with 9 interceptions, and scored 5 times off those picks, finishing fifth in Defensive Player of the Year voting. He is a big part of the Cowboys’ defense, but his injury is keeping him from playing at his best right now.

Since Bland is out, rookie Zion Childress might get a chance to play on Sunday against the New York Giants. He was recently cut and then brought back to the practice squad. The 23-year-old could make his NFL debut, but the team hasn’t made an official decision yet.
While cornerback remains a concern for the Cowboys, the bigger issue is how Jerry Jones plans to replace Micah Parsons’ unmatched presence.
Jerry Jones is looking at the former No. 1 overall pick for pass rush help
Micah Parsons is now with the Packers, so the Cowboys are looking for help in their pass rush. One option is Jadeveon Clowney, the former No. 1 overall pick, who visited Dallas on Wednesday. No deal was made, but the interest is clear.
What’s your perspective on:
Is Jadeveon Clowney the answer to the Cowboys' pass-rush woes, or just a temporary fix?

According to NFL insiders, Clowney left the facility without a contract, choosing to wait before making a decision. Cowboys coach Brian Schottenheimer called it a “great visit”.
The 32-year-old is coming off a solid season with the Carolina Panthers, where he posted 46 tackles, 5.5 sacks, 11 QB hits, and 9 tackles for loss in 14 games. Just two years ago, he tied his career-high with 9.5 sacks for the Baltimore Ravens, proving he can still bring heat off the edge.
His resume is stacked: No. 1 overall pick in 2014, three-time Pro Bowler, and Second-Team All-Pro in 2016. Over 11 seasons with teams like the Texans, Seahawks, Titans, Browns, and Ravens, he’s totaled 58 sacks in 140 games.

That kind of experience could be exactly what Dallas needs. With Parsons gone, the Cowboys are relying on a mix of Sam Williams, Dante Fowler, Marshawn Kneeland, James Houston, and rookie Donovan Ezeiruaku to generate pressure.
In last week’s loss to the Eagles, it was Kneeland who recorded the team’s only sack. The urgency is growing, and while Clowney has not signed yet, Jerry Jones is clearly still hunting for the missing piece.
