With the 2021 NFL Draft a little over two weeks away, the final preparations are underway across the league. With no combine due to the COVID-19 pandemic, players have been putting on a show in pro-day events.

Players appearing in the draft must also undergo certain medical evaluations. This is to check whether there are any irregularities that franchises should be aware of heading into the big event.

Alabama Crimson Tide’s offensive duo DeVonta Smith and Najee Harris both had injury concerns. And key updates about those injuries have now been uncovered thanks to the evaluations.

Update on DeVonta Smith & Najee Harris

Taking to Twitter, NFL insider Ian Rapoport offered some key updates regarding the two players.

DeVonta Smith had dislocated and torn ligaments in his finger during Alabama’s win over Ohio State in the national title game. Najee Harris, meanwhile, had ankle issues of his own.

But Rapoport reported that the medical evaluation showed that both players were recovering well.

“Two positive medical reports for two Alabama top prospects after a visit to Indy: — RB Najee Harris’ ankle checked out well with no concerns & shouldn’t affect his stock, sources say. — WR Devonta Smith’s dislocated finger with torn ligaments is healing fine with no issues ahead,” he tweeted.

Harris is considered one of the best running backs in the 2021 NFL Draft class. The running back is high on the wishlist of several teams looking to improve their run game.

Setting records with the Alabama Crimson Tide, it’s no wonder Rapoport said that his draft stock is unlikely to take a hit.

Smith, on the other hand, is the 2020 Heisman winner. Registering over 1,800 receiving yards along with 23 touchdowns, DeVonta Smith is a sure-shot 1st-round pick.
