Their starting QB, Sam Darnold, has been under the scanner for some time now. Drafted back in 2018, Darnold garnered a mixed response from critics during his time at the Big Apple.

While some believe Darnold is washed up, there are others who feel he deserves one last shot to make good under a new system.

One NFL insider though thinks Darnold’s time with the New York Jets is up. And that the Jets could have their mind set on their new QB1.

BYU quarterback next in line for New York Jets?

During a segment of The Herd with Colin Cowherd, Schrager said that while he won’t say the Jets are assured to pick Wilson yet, the odds are highly in his favor.

“I’d never say a lock. But I think it looks a lot more likely today than it did a couple of weeks ago,” said Schrager. Talking further as to why the Jets haven’t traded Sam Darnold yet, Schrager believes the right deal just hadn’t presented itself to the franchise.

“I know that a lot of Sam Darnold fans out there saying, ‘Well, they didn’t trade Sam Darnold’. I don’t know if Sam Donald had the market during free agency while everyone was signing other players,” he added.
