The Jaguars unsurprisingly drafted quarterback Trevor Lawrence. The Clemson QB was long viewed as the consensus first overall pick in this year’s draft class.

But not every pick was a lockdown like Trevor Lawrence. Many franchises took some interesting decisions in the first round. Some franchises even traded up during the event to land themselves the player of their choice.

And one such franchise that took this route also became the one that made the most shocking pick of the first-round.

Chicago Bears pull off a shocker in 2021 NFL Draft

The Chicago Bears have been in search of a franchise QB for long. The franchise has struggled to find itself a competent quarterback over the years to lead them back to the Super Bowl.

The franchise experimented with Mitch Trubisky, their first-round draft pick from 2017, and veteran QB Nick Foles in 2020. But after that failed, the Bears cut Trubisky and signed free agent Andy Dalton to rival Foles for the QB1 spot in 2021.

The Bears had reportedly also made a run for Seattle Seahawks QB Russell Wilson earlier in the offseason. Failing to land him, Bears fans came to terms with the fact that their QB room would compromise of two players who are past their best.

But on draft day, the Bears shocked everyone. Trading with the New York Giants, Chicago sent its 20th overall pick, a fifth-rounder in 2021, and another set of first and fourth-round picks in 2022 to land the 11th overall pick.
