The 2023 Masters Tournament saw history being made. Even though Spanish Golfer Jon Rahm won the coveted Green Jacket this year, that is not only the highlight of this year’s tournament. Something unfortunate happened at the golf course which shocked every sports fan. Fans present at Augusta National Golf Course will remember a shocking incident that took place on the course, as they will thank their stars for a miraculous escape. But what happened there?

Former NFL punter and pundit Pat McAfee came forward to speak about the terrifying incident, as he let out a sigh of relief as no one got injured.

Pat McAfee revisits the fall of pine trees on the golf course

During an episode of the ‘Pat McAfee Show’, the former NFL player revisited the scene of when three trees fell down on the iconic Augusta Golf Course. McAfee talked about how everyone escaped from being seriously injured.

McAfee said, “Three trees passed away this weekend. Did any humans end up underneath those? I mean that is a nightmare right? And I guess it was reported that nobody was hurt. Is that because everybody was already off the course or how did that, those are big fuc*ing trees coming down. That’s a big deal.

Officials paused the second round of the Masters’ tourney because of the bad weather conditions that were building up. While most players were not in favor of the decision, including winner Jon Rahm, it might have been the right call to make. Because of strong winds, three iconic pine trees came crashing down on the course as the game got suspended by the officials. Everyone was fortunate to escape from injuries they could have sustained from the incident. As the game continued, Jon Rahm went on to win the tourney, earning the praise of McAfee on his first Masters’ title.

McAfee took to Twitter to extend his appreciation and to congratulate Jon Rahm on his first Masters’ win. Despite the loss of his fellow countryman Brooks Koepka, McAfee wrote in the tweet, “Watching this big Spanish man golf all day has been an honor. The Masters of Golf is the fuc*ing best. Congrats to Jon Rahm on a green jacket.”

After starting the tournament with a double-bogey, Jon Rahm made an incredible comeback by shooting an opening round-65. While it was a close battle between Koepka and Rahm, the Spaniard came out on top, crowning him the champion by staying at 12-under par. 

While Jon Rahm enjoys his second major title, fans present will be thanking their stars while reminiscing about both Rahm’s incredible performance and the close incident with the falling of the pine trees.
