Fernando Mendoza has decided he won’t be throwing at this week’s NFL Scouting Combine. After the Indiana Hoosiers quarterback made his choice, Adam Ferrell shared what he claimed was a comment from Ryan Clark, but Clark has now clarified that the bizarre remark was never his.
Watch What’s Trending Now!
“Bro!! It’s crazy that folks can just make things up.” Ryan Clark posted on his X account. “This is so dang fake and false!! Just want to piss people off, I see, and lessen someone’s voice! I did not say this!! Also, Mendoza isn’t… NEVER MIND! Is this dude a real human? Adam Ferrell can’t be a real person; he’s just lying!”
According to Ferrell, this is what Clark had said about Fernando Mendoza:
“Well, we saw what happened when a black man did that last year. Let’s see what happens when a white man does it.”

Ferrell’s X bio identifies him as an NFL insider and reporter; it also states that his account provides “NFL parody updates.”
It’s also worth noting that this isn’t the first time Clark has spoken out on racial issues. Back in July 2025, he took a stand outside the NFL after Robert Griffin III posted a graphic involving WNBA player Angel Reese, a Black woman, claiming she hated Caitlin Clark.
Clark didn’t hesitate to question Griffin’s intentions and publicly call out what he believed was inappropriate behavior.
Clark posted a video of himself on X with a caption, “RG3 has a strange fascination with Angel Reese, or a connection to that spotlight it brings him… but this one was easy. He posted a graphic that I didn’t see anywhere else of Angel as a Monkey. Just say, “That’s wrong!” He couldn’t. He pointed out that Angel hurt him & then lied to the inner circle. RG says you’re wrong if you don’t support people who don’t look like you, but you’re also wrong if you never support people who do look like you.”
After taking a stand against racism, he again found himself in a similar situation.
Coming back to Fernando Mendoza, this isn’t the first time the young quarterback has found himself caught up in online rumors. As he works toward his NFL future, the spotlight and sometimes the misinformation seem to follow close behind.
Social media can’t stop making up Fernando Mendoza stories
After leading Indiana to a 27–21 national championship win over Miami, Fernando Mendoza quickly found himself at the center of a viral rumor. A post claimed the star quarterback planned to skip the NFL Scouting Combine for a Wall Street finance internship ahead of the draft.
“SPECIAL: Indiana quarterback Fernando Mendoza tells ESPN that he has a finance internship on Wall Street in February and plans to miss the NFL Scouting Combine.” Scott Hughes, an independent journalist, posted, “A remarkable decision for the presumed #1 pick in the 2026 NFL Draft.”
The rumor spread quickly, but there are no reliable sources to verify it.
Instead of participating in the Combine, Mendoza will wait to showcase his arm at Indiana Pro Day, where he’ll throw alongside his Indiana Hoosiers teammates, including Omar Cooper Jr. and Riley Nowakowski.

Fernando Mendoza announced his entry into the 2026 NFL Draft in January through Instagram. His progress has been nothing short of phenomenal.
After playing three years in California, he moved to Indiana. He had a historic season in 2025, leading the school to its first College Football Playoff National Championship and claiming the Heisman Trophy.
In 36 games throughout his collegiate career, he compiled a record of 25-10, passing for 8,247 yards with 71 touchdowns and 22 interceptions, and also scoring 11 rushing touchdowns.
His performance and versatility have made him the likely candidate to be picked first overall in mock drafts, with the Las Vegas Raiders being a possible destination.
Amid all the noise, both praise and rumors, all eyes will be on him as draft day gets closer.
