CTESPNNetwork took to X on March 17th to post a major update on former Baltimore Ravens WR, Odell Beckham Jr.’s future in the NFL. They tweeted, “Sources: BREAKING NEWS #CTESPN Kansas City Chiefs and Odell Beckham Jr have agreed to a one-year deal” If the update is correct, it will be a major deal for the defending champions, Kansas City Chiefs as it will strengthen their offensive play.

For fans who do not know, CTESPNNetwork is Tampa Bay’s WR, Antonio Brown’s company. Hence, the information can be fairly relied upon. They gained credibility from fans after calling in the news regarding Russell Wilson’s deal with the Pittsburgh Steelers.

Well, the Ravens gave him a lifeline after OBJ came back from an ACL injury as he had a decent outing last season with 565 receiving yards and 3 touchdowns from 35 receptions. Alas, they decided against retaining him. At the age of 31, this might be OBJ’s last contract in the NFL as he tries his best to impress the Chiefs and Patrick Mahomes with a year’s contract. But why did OBJ sign up with the Chiefs only for a year?

Both parties had different objectives with the deal. OBJ was looking for more money, as reported by Daily Mail. They reported, “Odell wants a huge contract that has tons of money behind it and years attached to it because this is likely his last contract in the #NFL.” Mahomes’ restructured fees with the Chiefs have created room for $22 million while OBJ had a deal for $18 million with the Ravens. So, he would be looking for a deal on the north of $18 million while the Chiefs won’t be able to pay anything above $22 million. Hence, they could only afford a year’s deal for the upcoming season.
